Sounds like an OK deal. I think you are getting it at or slightly below the invoice price. I would go with the JBL, Moonroof, NAV etc. DVD is something you can retrofit after the fact, but not NAV.

Good luck!

Confusion re Highlander base package EVP-2 by rollingwoods

Help! KBB, Edmunds, USAA and even some dealer Websites list the EVP2 features for the base FWD Highlander as including power drivers seat, power liftgate, and a ton of other good stuff that we need (wife's a foot shorter than me ). But after going to look at one with this package number, it only had on it a few things like rear manual AC. And indeed if you now go to the Toyota Website, the "tiny" EVP2 version is what's listed. What gives? Did Toyota actually produce any with the long list of EVP2 goodies? I'm in NorCal, if that makes any difference. Not worth searching around if none were ever manufactured that way (and we can't afford a Limited).

I don't know anything about the EDP2 but we just purchased a Sport edition in Northern Cal. The base models we saw did not have the power drivers seat or lift gate. The Sport edition has power drivers seat and some other goodies as standard. Sport is less expensive than the Limited. Since the base would take an add on to get power seats it might not be that big of a difference in price if you can find a Sport without too many optional features added.

Hi,

Which dealership did you go to? Did you get the QH or the QI?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Thanks. We were hoping not to have to go with the tauter suspension of the Sport, since we're used to the cushy ride of our 2000 Sienna XLE. But I guess the Sport is the only option. Very hard to find one that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles we don't want though. I fear my wife is rapidly moving into "Let's just get another Sienna since we like that so much."

Have you tried test driving the Sport? We drove the Base model and the Sport and did not notice a difference. However, we are not real sensitive to small differences. We werepreviously driving a Chevy HHR and when we test drove the Highlander we both found ourselves when bracing we went over bumps. We started laughing when we realized we were bracing and nothing happened when we went over the bumps. We hadn't realized we were doing that.

I did a quick search and the few statements I found seem to support our experience with our test drive. Here is a link to one discussion, unfortunately it is from 2007 so I don't know if it has any meaning since I don't know what all changed with the 2008-2009 modifications..

Purchased in Northern California March 2008
Highlander Sport listed base price was $30,000 plus accessories $6,905 and destination charge $745 for MRSP $37,650. We paid $33,152. (plus taxes etc.) We were told that is $400 above invoice. As usual we ended up paying for several accessories we didn't want in order to get what we did want.

Accessories included on the one we bought:
Cold weather Package - $60
Homelink Univ. Transceiver - $125
Leather heated seats - $1840
Navigation system - $2530
Power Rear Door - $400
Special Color - $220 (Blizzard Pearl - It has a beautiful iridescence in the sun!)
Manual Rear AC - $385
Moonroof - $850
Tow package - $220
Carpet/cargo Mats - $275

FYI just in case: Since you are a California buyer can I assume you are well aware sales tax increases 1% on April 1 and registration increases significantly mid May?

Not a reason to buy if you are unsure what you want to do but if you are close it may be worth deciding sooner than later.
