I think the $5000 dollar incentive must have moved a lot of cars in the SE, but up here in the northeast dealers still have TONS of 08s. The two big dealers near me both have about 100 08s left in stock. I would expect Toyota to be offering some great deals on these by the President's day sales push

I should have moved on a new 08 limited that was being discounted 8000 to 9000
by the Charlotte NC dealers. Now there are none to be found. I think maybe one of the dealers has a butt ugly blue one. Thinking that as the economy tanks the 09's
may be offered with similar rebates as inventory builds. But the factories in Japan are closing for two weeks and that could keep stock down. So for now it seems to be wait and see. They are willing to sell the 09's at invoice but I'm holding out a
while longer.

Rich, didn't really want 4wd. How much discount was he giving on the 08's? I see he's listing the 09's selling price above msrp. What's up with that?

Hi, new to this forum and it is very helpful. Would love your thoughts on the following deal:

2008 AWD Sport Black with Black interior cloth

Options:
Cold Weather Package
Anti theft
Moonroof
Tow Prep
Mudguards
Carpet/Cargo mat
Remote Start

MSRP: 34,338
Invoice: 30,841(includes destInation fee of 650, TDA of 500 Dealer Holdback of 628, Wholesale Financial Reserve 314)

Midwest dealer willing to sell it to me for 30,841-2500 Rebate =28,241 +TTL. ( I guess it might be a little more since tax is on the pre-rebate price)

Good deal or not? I figure I have about 930 of negotiating room which is the holdback + financial reserve)??

Also could get the same car + leather, cd, power rear door, dual climate, cross bars etc for 31,297 +TTL

Thanks alot in advance!

My experience at the end of December is that dealers were willing to give up basically all of their holdback and financial reserve to get their 08s off the lot. Shouldn't be too much different now. If I were you I would counter with at least $942 less than the quote. It's already 2009, that vehicle has a year of depreciation on it and it's getting harder to sell by the day.

Thanks for the advice!

Do most people feel that a new 2008 at this point has had the same amount of depreciation as a used 2008 with only a few thousand miles. i.e. should you negotiate it like its a used vehicle

Also has anyone had any success negotiating the TDA or is this advertising fee generally not reimbursed to dealers?
