I was first on the list as I was closest to them, then they were delivering a silver one on the other side of Richmond and then they were heading up to your house. I was very impressed with the way Jim Barkley Toyota handled everything. Their driver showed us everything the Highlander had to offer and how to use it. Answered every question my wife and I had. Very professional. I would recommend them to any potential buyer.

I'd love to get some help from all the experts on this forum, especially those who bought your Highlander from Jim Barkley out of state. I am in NJ but the price I got is far higher than Jim Barkley's. I don't mind travel to NC to save $3k. My questions are: 1) is the price you paid the same as they posted online? Any negotiation margin? 2) does the price include the SE area rebate? In other words, is the tax you paid based on the selling price+$5K but not the selling price? 3) Can you take the 0% for 60 months advantage if you are not living in SE region? 4) Did you work out all the necessary paperwork before you came down the dealer or after you arrive? 5) Can they hold the car for you for few days? Thanks.

They apparently do not charge dealer fees which saves anywhere from $399 to $699 compared to some of the other dealers here in NC. I don't recall others mentioning any additional negotiating room off the advertised web price, but can't hurt to try. 2) The web price does include the $5k SE rebate. However, the sales tax is calculated off of the price before the $5k rebate is applied. 3) Not sure about the financing question. However, I'd be surprised if it didn't cost you less over the life of the loan to take the rebate. Edmunds has a good Low APR vs. Rebate calculator so you can crunch the numbers to see which makes more sense. |

What you pay is what they list the car for. No surprises. 2.Yes, you can take advantage of the rebate or add it back into the price and take advantage of the zero % financing up to 60 months. Basically, unless you are trading in a vehicle or putting down at least 25% then the financing may be a better deal. I took the $5,000 off the price because the numbers worked better for me that way. 3. Yes in most cases, because the car will be financed out of North Carolina. 4. I had my car delivered, I bought it 5. You would have to ask them directly on holding a car. I would imagine that they would want some sort of deposit but that's between both parties. Added note. The price listed was exactly what I paid. Sales tax I am paying to the State of Virginia directly. I have a 30 day NC temp tag and I will register the car in Virginia and pay whatever licensing fees that are required. Another option is purchasing the vehicle and having a auto carrier pick up the car and deliver it to you. You can find them on the internet. Hope this helps. |
