all the dealers list a Dealer Fee of $699.99 plus many have the Toyoguard added at $619.

I'd have a hard time being a loyal Toyota buyer if I had to deal with this everytime I wanted a new car.

Find an internet deal and drive a few states away if you have to. They will still service and do warranty work on your car at home. $1300 is a big chunk of change to just line the dealer's pocket with
.

I know. Our last 3-4 new vehicles have been Hondas, and I have a great contact at one of the local dealers. I currently drive a 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L and my wife has a 2003 Honda CRV, which is getting passed down to our 16 year old. The current deals on the '08 Highlanders is hard to beat.

Dealing with the local Toyota dealers is more hassle than I have time for. Jim Barkely seems pretty easy to deal with based on what I have read. I don't mind paying a little more to deal locally, but even $ for $ the locals need to be $1,300 lower than JB to be even.

Oops -couldn't figure out how to turn off the bolding.

Amen brother!

Also, these guys have to much time on their hands since they have not been movin' horses.

A little more dittle time cruisin this discussion forum to see what they are missin'

Everyone out there reading. Do your homework. This is the time to DRIVE YOUR HARDEST DEAL when at the showroom. If it doesn't work just walk. I assure you, deals will only get better with Toyota as time wears on.

Interesting...

Who are the suspected DID's?

Speaking of homework, I felt like I did mine, but turns out still could have done a bit better on price, although I was satisfied with the deal at the time.

Unfortunately, when I bought, it seemed as if the specific Sport, AWD model with the color/options I wanted were all but just about gone in the SE. Now, I go and check one of the dealers website and they show 3 of the same vehicle available again. So, it's possible for those looking for an 08, there may be more 08 inventory in your area and/or in the pipeline to your area then you're led to believe. In my case I bought when I did not because I absolutely had to, but because I was concerned about what I wanted being gone. Just another tactic that can be used against the buyer I reckon.

I don't disagree that now is a great time to drive the hardest deal, but I was surprised with how many dealers didn't seem all that aggressive in trying to make a deal. Some didn't even follow up.

Should be interesting to see what kind of deals folks are able to get on any remaining 08's early into next year...

No worries, I just got the same exact car from Jim Barkley at the same price as you ($31,211+TTL on an MSRP of $40,345) in my second choice color of salsa red. Very happy with my decision (and the price!), and they'll be delivering the car to me here in Maryland, saving me a 7+ hour road trip to Ashville.

Interesting side note. Most of the NC dealers I was calling would tell me that they would "try" to get the car I wanted, but when I called Jim Barkley Toyota, they right off the bat could offer me the car. I asked why that was and apparently they had anticipated the run on Highlanders and ordered 50 or additional cars (I guess a similar phenomena had occurred last year on a different Toyota model and they decided to get ahead of the curve). So, it sounds like the majority of Highlanders being delivered to the SE are going into that dealership, and other dealerships are trying to do transfers (which is why they were all telling me they could only try to get me the car).

#3600 of 5158 Help with offer by findme

I'd love to get some help from all the experts on this forum! I am interested in an 08 4WD HIghlander sport. The MSRP is 38, 232 and the internet price is 31, 988. It has everything except nav. It has leather, sunroof, dual air, rear air, JBL, crossbars, tow package, etc. Again, loaded except for nav. What would be a fair offer? I had made an offer to another dealership that was never accepted, so I do want to be fair. I want the best possible price however! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time!

Where do you live? If it in the South East, you should be able to get this for under 30K. See my post on the last page. I got the basically the same thing you are looking for and paid $29,500 in North Carolina.

I live in KY. I wish we had the 5000 rebate. We only have 2000 here. I haven't looked at your post yet. Did you get it for 29, 500 OTD? Wow!

No not otd. I think the price was actually 29,411 +++ it ended up being about 30,500. Go to Jim Barkley's internet site and price it. Go there and get it or have them delivered. As posted on the last few pages, they are more than reasonable with delivery fees. 300 to Richmond, VA or 500 to DC.
