It should be OK, but may not be a very good deal, considering that dealers have $1,000 holdback in its invoice price, about $1,000~$2,000 incentive/bonus for hybrid if they could reach their monthly sales target, and manufacturer to customer rebate (generally customer gives it to dealer to lower the price), their real cost should be lower than what shows in their invoice price. It is true that hybrid is hot but it doesn't mean that they don't have room to lower their price for this end of year model. Ask other dealer to quote the same vehicle (send them VIN #) since it is pretty common for dealers to transfer vehicles in the same or close areas for free. Others may give you better quote, which you could use to negotiate with this dealer to lower its price. My 2 cents and good luck.

I was in the same boat back in February, 2008. Wanted navigation and DVD. But, the problem is, there are very few vehicles that comes with both - especially the DVD entertainment system. To give you an idea, New England (MA, RI, NH, VT, ME, CT) gets only 9 hyhi limiteds with that configuration in every 2 months. Dealers don't give you much price leverage on these vehicles. I compromised on the DVD and siddenly, I was able to get the car for invoice price. You should be able to get below invoice price now for sure if you made that compromise.

I know, I know, its difficult to compromise.... But that's probably the best way to get the best deal.

Good Luck!

I bought this 2002 Highlander for 11,000. It has 42k on it.
Came complete with Nav and wheels.
It's a 4cyl, but enough power for my needs.
As you know, it's basically a Camry on Steriods.

All new cars depreciate as soon as you drive it off the dealership. And as long as you are not selling the car as soon as you buy it, why worry about depreciation?

Sept sales decline and other local incentive observations by 1headlight

Well, the (bad) news is out about September US Toyota sale figures were released earlier today. Sales plummeted 32.3%.

I don't know what this will mean on the ground for those looking to buy a Highlander in the coming weeks???

I noticed that one of the local So Calif. volume dealers has posted something VERY curious today. Yes they do offer a $1000 cash back. This has not changed for the last three months. Very disappointing. But even more curious is the fact the dealer totally took out any mention of financing options or incentives with the individual vehicle description which has always been there. They do have a financing tab on the homepage which mentions financing for September ONLY.

Very interesting.

Let's here from others experiences out there.

Yes, that indeed is very curious! I have not seen any Oct incentives revealed so far. I am in the Market for an 08 AWD Sport in the NorCal area and was kinda hoping for some nicer incentives for Oct.

The best offer I got in Sep for an 08 AWD Sport with Moonroof, JBL, rear a/c (MSRP around $34.9K) was $28.5k +T&L. I personally feel this car should sell around 27k given the market conditions and all.

Well! we'll see how things go

Hit enter before typing; so here we got $2000 cash back or 0% for 36, 1.9% for 48-60 months. That's not bad given the fact that before we had slightly lower incentives than the most of states.
