what was the sticker price on this vehicle? I've been offered 5.8k off on a sport about two months back without any haggling, but thought it could be better now.

Also in So Calif-- West SF Valley and near Thousand Oaks.
Considering a Highlander Hybrid.
Can you get these below invoice?
We looked a few months ago and the dealership in Thousand Oaks was not upbeat and started out above MSRP.
We left. We have lots of offers on other cars.

Also, does anyone know what the MF or interest rate is on a lease?
Any help would be appreciated.

"Considering a Highlander Hybrid.

With the dealers discussions I had "below invoice" is not remotely a realistic expectation today for a Hybrid. The two dealer I discussed this with were both in concurrence that the deal would be done at MSRP or sticker (with no incentives on Hybrids in CA). This was a 2008 base Hybrid at sticker of a little below $39k. I believe there maybe a little more negociation lattitude on the Hybrid Limiteds which sticker up to $46k. The margin of profit on the Hybrid is already very small compared to the gassers.

I switched focus to the 2008 Highlander (Sport) gassers and still dealers are not discounting these enough in my opinion (not including available incentives). Keep in mind, it is the end of model year for the 2008 Highlander. In about three weeks (mid October) the 2009 will start trickling onto lots in higher density demographic areas and will be widely available in Nov.

Yet, most large volume dealers in SoCA have plenty of 2008's. What are they going to do with all of these in three weeks or two months?????

2009 Highlander Hybrid Limited by car4us4

We have a quote from a dealer for this Highlander. It has an MSRP of $49,053 and a Dealer Invoice of $44,107. They are asking us for $45,107. We live in Colorado and want both the Navigation System and DVD Entertainment system and there are some other extras that are also included. Does anyone think this is a good deal? We are ready to go for it on Monday, but we're starting to get some cold feet.

Thanks for your help!!!

car4us4,
Is the Hybrid quote for a 2009 or 2008?
What dealer in Colorado?
I'm looking for a 2008 Highlander Sport 4WD.
My wife and I are ready to buy any day now. The cut off for Toyota specials and incentives is 9/30/08. After 9/30, Toyota will have to offer bigger and better incentives if they want to sell floor stock. I'll have my eyes and ears open starting 10/1/08 for bargain pricing.

It's a 2009 that will be coming in the 1st week of October. I'm not sure of the dealer, because I am using a car broker. I was quoted on the same vehicle that was a 2008 at dealer invoice which was about $1,500 less than the 2009. We're leaning towards the 2009, because the depreciation on the 2008 already exceeds $1,500 (probably closer to $3-4K). I think we're getting a good deal, but in my mind, I'd like to hear somebody else say that it's a good deal.

Thanks!!

I have decided that I want a Toyoya Highlander. I have been told by two local dealerships that they will pull the invoice on a 2008 (Limited or Sport) and that is what I will pay minus rebates. I am waiting to see what the October rebates will look like. I read another entry that said it may be better to get a 2009 because of 3-4 thousand depreciation of the 2008. Is this correct?. There are many limiteds on the lots in Baton Rouge, LA. Should I try to get a better deal? Should I wait for 2009?

You should always take into account the depreciation from the prior year model. If a dealership offers you a $3-$4K difference in the pricing than that's the decision to make. a $1-$2K difference doesn't warrant the savings in my mind. If you're short of cash, that's a whole different story. This is just totally my opinion though.

Thank You,

I will run the numbers after the October rebates come out. If I buy what is on the car lot I will not be able to get what I want. I think they should take depreciation into account and the fact I am taking an automobile that is not exactly what I want. If they are not willing to do this I will order an 09 and get what I want. At this point the MSRP is $37,000 and the best they will do is $32,000. This is before TTL. This is not good enough when I take depreciation into account.

Anyone know what may be offered as a rebate in October? Any good guesses?
