uds,

I like Nissan as a total product especially the styling and price point of the Murano.
You of course can get the 2009 NOW. The only drawback from my own point of view is the the Murano (which is the Altima engine base) requires premium fuel. An additional item that attracted me to the Highlander is the third row seating which a couple of other manufacturers do not offer in this category.

It still is very strange that nobody know any firm dates on the arrival of the 2009 Highlander. Nor does the Toyota website promote it in any extensive fashion.

Again, buying or leasing an 2008 Highlander unless it has "end of model year" price, I think is senseless. Compared to all the other manufacters who have 2009 (and have had them for a couple of months now) one would be buying/lease a model year back with the Highlander.

From what I see in my region, So Calif, the Toyota dealers have a huge inventory of 2008's they will still have to move. The largest volume dealer here has 137 Highlander in inventory today. If they do not start a different sales strategy soon they will a glut of 2008 still in the coming months.

Enxaga, I'm also in the L.A. area looking to buy a Highlander LTD with Nav, rear air and pb. I was going to wait for their 'end of model year' sale to buy. Maybe we can get a better deal if we get together to negotiate.

1headlight,
If a few of us in the So. Cal. area would get together to get quotes on several Highlanders we most probably get a better price. Let's get together.

I recently purchased a HL Sport 2WD with the following options.

1. Leather Seat Package Includes: Leather-LAAT
Trim Seats and Multi-Stage Heated Front
2. Tow Prep Package includes: 5,000lbs
3. Navigation System
    Voice-Activation and JBL AM/FM 4-Disc and Bluetooth
4. Power Rear Door-PBAT
5. Front Auto Dual Zone Climate Control-QCAT
6. Auto Rear Air Conditioning System-QRAT
7. Homelink Universal Transceiver-HJAT
8. Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof w/Sunshade-SRAT
9. All Season Mats w/Cargo Mat

The MSRP was $38,169 with options. I got it for $32,700 (after $1,500 rebate in FL).
Is it a good deal or not? I traded my 07 Camry LE for it. I got a descent KBB price for it.

Hi enxaga,

Prices vary substantially in each particular trimline for the Highlander, in order to get a response from other forumers would be to list some of the other items it come with ie third row seat, etc, etc if any. These other items sometimes add (or subtract) $$ to the sticker. Base prices, from what I have seen fluctuate up to 3 to 4 thousand from car to car.

Just a thought...

2009 Highlander arrival update by 1headlight

Finally, I have been able to find a Toyota representative that was able to give some info about the 2009 release. This came not from a dealer but rather a Toyota Corp national rep. involved with what is termed "Toyota Experience" or more simply put a consumer liason.

The Highlander will be on a national release basis in November (no specific date yet), however there will be a "limited" release in regions where in demographic areas where demands are high in October (no specific date).

Also for those interested in the Venza, the limited release is beginning in "matter of weeks" and national release in November. Trimline pricing on the Venza should be available on Toyota.com "very soon"

There you have it.

As I have posted in the recent past, my opionion on buying/leasing a 2008, the dealers will have no choice but to become more aggressive with model year end incentives/pricing simply because inventory of the 2008 in most dealships is plentiful. Use this info to either leverage a better deal on 2008 (or wait for an '09)
