Congrats and enjoy your new vehicle! My understanding is that Toyota also has dealer specific incentives so it is nearly impossible to figure out the exact cost to the dealership. Also, my understanding is that if you give all "outstandings" on the survey they send, there is a bonus to your salesman.

In the end, we had a favorable buying experience and that counts a lot. It sounds like you did as well.

I've had fun learning a bit more about hybrids with some of the various hybrid web sites.

Finally, remember to thank Uncle Sam next year assuming you get a tax credit of 2 grand or so!

Had a real negative experience at Suburban Toyota in Troy, MI. The sales staff really lacks professionalism. The salesperson actually took a phone call during my closing then I waited for over an hour to get into F&I where they tried to hard sell me on extras. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention during my one hour wait to spend 25k, I saw them negatively treat an immigrant. If he only knew his rights....

The price you paid($38K) for loaded highlander.. you could have landed a fully loaded Acura MDX(a lot more luxury.better handling...)for almost the same..

Just a thought. Wht do ya guys think..

I have an MDX touring and I don't agree with the comment that it is "a lot more luxury" than a loaded Highlander. I think they are about the same luxury wise, with regards to quality of materials and comfort. The MDX does have more room and a better NAV and RES (and bluetooth, XM, and backup camera), so those are the main reasons we bought it, plus the gas milage is pretty good on the highway.

We are now looking at a Highlander now too for our second vehicle. But based on the usage this car will get (many short trips, lots of cold weather driving, low yearly milage), we plan to get the non-hybrid version.

I finally bought one for $26000 and the dealer put in a lojack for free. Great car for the price.

James, that is exactly what features I am looking for! Where did you get such a good price? I live in Iowa, but am interested in any good deal, by the way, is your son for hire?

I bought it at Wellesley Toyota. I went to Boch and the sales person did not know to much about the highlander. Then I went on line and contacted some dealers and Wellesley Toyota gave me the best deal. Almost 5k under MSRP and a free lojack. The ironic thing about it is I live in Norwood.

thats a good deal. when i was originally looking i didnt want the sunroof and wellesley had given me an online quote of 26100 for the v6 awd standard model. we decided it was worth the extra 500 for the sunroof. but your right, our boch salesman didnt know any real technical info about the highlander. but i had already negotiated the price and car before i went so it didnt matter..
how does the wellesley service center look, and are you planning on adding anything aftermarket to the highlander? i want to get the front windows tinted and maybe figure out a way to add an audio in port for my mp3 player..
