AJ,

First, keep in mind that different areas of the country have MUCH different demands for different types of vehicles. For example, AWD Highlanders here in Buffalo are VERY hard to come by. I'm at the highest volume Toyota Dealer here in Buffalo and have only 5 highlanders of any kind in inventory on the ground right at the moment. The normal number we have is somewhere between 40-50. Typically FWD models are discounted a bit more than AWD models in this area. However, from what I've heard, FWD models are much more in demand downstate in NY and in NJ. What I can tell you is that from what I can see, there are also not alot of them on dealer lots in New Jersey either, although there are several that are allocated to dealers in that area. I would recommend a dealer to work with if I had any experience with any in the area, but I'm sorry that I don't. What I would do is work with the dealer that you're most comfortable with, and make and see what they would be willing to sell the vehicle for over invoice. If they are reputable, they should not have a problem bringing out and showing you an invoice on a particular vehicle and then you can work from there. My best guess is that you're going to end up somewhere between $500 - $1000 over invoice on one in the area you're in. Then take a look to see if any rebates would make more sense or the special financing. However, stop into your local credit union or bank to have a competitive rate before going in so that you have a reasonable point of comparison.

The least expensive V6 FWD highlander that I'm seeing in the NJ area from running a locate is $27,988 from what I can see.

Hope this helps and good luck in your shopping.

Ken

I'm also looking to buy a FWD V6 with side curtain airbags and 3rd row in Chicago. I have located at least 17 in stock in the area. They all come with sun roofs and list at $29,804. I have quotes of around $25K before tax and after the $800 rebate. See drivechicago.com for a nice inventory listing; maybe NJ has something similar.

Thanks Mer! I got a quote of 26000$ before tax after rebates but no sunroof and curtains air bags in NJ area.So Chicago is a good place to buy highlander. Good Luck. Please let me know what you paid so I will try to get similar quotes in NJ.

I am at SF bay area. The highlander is FWD V6 with 3rd row, FE, TO, LF, EH, HE, SR, AG, JY, CF, R7. Total MSRP is $30, 433. Negotiated the price of $26000 after rebate. OTD paid $286**.**. The finance lady kept telling me it is a good deal. Is it a good deal? I love this car.

Hello ofa,

That sounds like a very good price. I am also in the SF Bay Area and I am looking for a BASE, AWD V-6, that has an MSRO of $30,400 or $30.5k. The best I could get is $4k off of MSRP, after the $1,000 rebate, or $26,400. I have sent out other emails, but I'm in no rush. I may wait a bit.

Can you provide the dealer's name?

Will there be a better deal soon? by etantech

I'm about to purchase my first new vehicle, and I'm really excited!

Currently I'm comparing the Toyota Highlander to the Honda Pilot and Buick Rendezvous.

I'd love to get the Highlander, but it's $100+ more per month compared to the Buick Rendezvous because there is no deal on the HL currently.

Question: I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether Toyota will be having a better deal on the Highlander any time soon. Any ideas? Research showed me that in 2004 there was as low as 0% financing and also $2500 cash back.

Thanks!

I'm just beginning the process of buying a new car, and after researching have it narrowed down to Highlander or Jeep Grand Cherokee. My parents had a horrific experience at the Toyota dealer close to where I live (Tansky on Sawmill), so I'm looking for recommendations for another Toyota dealer in the Columbus/Delaware area. Also, I'd like to know price on a Ltd AWD if there's any Buckeyes out there who recently bought one. Thanks!
