I'm looking for the same information. Can I ask what dealer you were negotiating with? Downtown Toyota on Queen east in Toronto tried to convince me to pay MSRP of 46,500 (you'll be saving freight and PDI!!!) for a demo 2005 Highlander V6 7 pass LTD with 17,500 km. Same purchase and lease rates. Lowest they would budge on the demo was 43,500, so I walked away. Sounds like you have a pretty good deal.

Purchasing with 87,000 by jenna1

I'm considering purchasing a 2001 Highlander Limited from a dealer. It's in excellent condition and a good price but has 87,000 miles. The high miles scare me. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Purchased a highlander in Houston.
Options: FE,LL,TO,VV,F1,CN,P4,L3,T2,TS,FF,M5
also dealer added his tent at retail of 495.00
total msrp including the 495.00 tint was 35685.00 35190 was printed MSRP
paid with rebate 30200.00
Felt like I could have done better but the diffrence between what I wanted to pay 29700 and their final offer of 30200 was too close to walk on. I got the two tone paint and it was nice.
I guess I got 5000 off so I am happy.

I would get the VIN number from the car and use either CarFax or NADA (go to their web sites) to purchase a vehicle report (about $25). This will give you good information about the car, and who may or may not have owned it before. I own a 2001 Highlander Limited, have about 55000 miles and have had no major problems with it so far, and love it. Would definitely buy another one. Good luck.

I got my 01 (FWD, 4 cyl) at 79K miles last year, now it has 92K miles. 0 problem so far.

If it's from a dealer (toyota?) they usually get the car clean up and fix up pretty good before they put it on the lot. In my case, my HL was 1st sold from the same dealer so they actually had all the service records.

87K seems nothing for toyota as far as I concern. of course, the price has to be right too. good luck

I agree the CarFax is always a good thing to do. Some dealerships get one when they trade for the car and will show you the report.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of pricing are you looking at for this HL Ltd w/ 87,000 miles? Most of Toyo dealers here in NC want almost as much for the used ones (with mileage like the one you are looking at) as they do for the new ones.

Jbollt,
What options did you take on your 05 Limited Highlander? Leather? Value Package? Was rebate applied before tax or after?

Please post.
Thanks.

Value of Extended Warranty by orcons77

So I have heard the arguments against buying an extended warranty, that it is essentially overpriced insurance that you don't need, but at some price it should be worthwhile. The question is what is that price?

On the web it looks like you can get a 7 Yr 100K mile extended warranty on a V6 AWD Highlander for about $1120. A dealer is offering me this warranty for $975. Is this worth it? Or is the dealer's cost still way under the $975 (which would imply I shouldn't pay for it.)

Any thoughts? Anyone know how to value an extended warranty? Thanks.

I'd never buy an extended warranty for a Honda or Toyota. But on a Chrysler, most definately. But if $975 gives you peace of mind, then go for it. Because that's really what an extended warranty is, peace of mind.

Oh, one more thing, make sure it's a warranty backed by the manufacturer, not some 3rd party. I got burned big time with Warranty Gold.
