I am in the process of doing just that. However, I went to my credit union first and got approved for a loan, then went to the dealership. I think it's a great idea to shop around for loans, you definately do not have to finance through Toyota--and why would you if you can get a better deal from your credit union, in addition to getting the rebate??? The only (slightly) downside to this is that your credit will be "pinged" twice, meaning it will be checked by the dealership and then by your credit union, and each time it is checked your FICO score decreases by one point -- a small sacrifice for a great APR!

Also, if you go to your credit union for the loan, you may not encounter restrictions on the term of the loan. At the dealership, to get the best APR offered (3.9%) you must finance it for either three or four years (I forget which one!) which may increase your monthly payment above what you are able to pay. At the credit union you may be able to extend the term of the loan to five years, thereby reducing your montly payment (but slightly increasing the overall cost of the car with the added interest). However, if you got a 3.9% APR, you may want to get the longest term loan you can, take the extra money you have allocated towards a car payment each month and pay off your higher-interest credit cards!!

Cost to Add Leather by sleepergt

All of the Highlanders on the local dealer lots in Jacksonville, FL only have the cloth seats. I know the dealer can add leather, question is what should this cost? The leather option is stickered at about $2200, however this also includes electric seats, and a few other goodies I think. I need to know what the cost of just adding leather is. Thanks!

Dealers in Rhode Island, SE Conn., Southern Mass by trnrz

Was wondering about peoples buying experiences at various dealers in Rhode Island and nearby CT and MA. Looking for a 4 cyl AWD with SR, EH, and MG as a minimum, with AWCF and KM. Prices I have been getting are in the neighborhood of 26400, which seems a little high for a 4cyl compared to what others are reporting here for 6 cyl models. Thanks.

cold weather option on 4 cyl - moonroof by trnrz

A dealer just told me that the cold weather package (EH) was not available on a 4 cyl, only on a 6 cyl - same dealer told me that moonroof (SR) was factory installed on 4 cyl awd, but dealer installed on 4 cyl 2wd. I already gave up on 4 cyl with side airbags - apparently toyota doesn't make them - but does anyone have experience with the moonroof or cold weather package and 4 cyl? Thanks, there is so much conflicting info out there.

Don't know about about EH (not necessary here in FL), but I just picked up my new 4cyl fwd Highlander with the factory SR moonroof last week. Also included AW alloys and a few other goodies. Use the Toyota website to configure yours - it's pretty complete and helpful.

Excellent post. I had exact the same experiences. I got my '05 HL at the 355 at my first visit of them.

I think I will be buying a Highlander this week.
I also, however, looked at the new Hyundai Tucson
