I quoted from Gillman, McDavid, Russell&Smith, and Katy Cars of Honda. Among them, Russell is the lowest as following: base: $16,473 tax: $1,029.56 (6.25% in TX) inventory tax: $40.39 document fee: $50.00 title fee: $33.00 license fee: $72.30 inspection fee: $23.75 total drive out: $17,722 Katy Cars of Honda and McDavid sales said they would like to match the offer, which I already feel overpriced by at least $1,000. How much shall I shed off? I am looking at a target OTD price of $16,500; has someone in the greater Houston area has a recent purchase lower than $16,500? thanks. |

I just got an email from one of the local dealers and he said he could give me the Civic LX AT sedan for $17,200 OTD. So what this means is that I could have gotten LX-S for $17,900 OTD (+$700 invoice of LX). Oh well, I hope someone else could benefit from this. Also, if you are not in a hurry you might want to wait for the Memorial Day sale or few days before end of April to get some better deals (& remember that just like on April 1 we (CA) had sales tax increase of 1%, we are going to have a vehicle tag increase sometime in May) ... Easy way to look at it is: sales price Civic Auto LX $15,680 ($17,200 OTD) sales price Civic Auto LX-S $16,380 ($17,900 OTD) Good Hunting... |

Atomic Blue LX-S Base: $15,751 Tax: $787.55 (5%) Title/Reg: $111.00 Cust Serv Fee: $299 Total: $16948.55 Seems like a good internet quote but dealer absolutely refused to budge on first offer or let us leave the dealership then offered $40 off with change of color. Very high pressure sale but price seems okay. What do you guys think. Good deal? Could have been better? Generally happy but did not appreciate the high pressure sales tactics, didn't get top choice color (polished metal), and disappointed I didn't stand up and leave.

I am in the process of looking for a new car and have settled on either the LX or EX Civic Coupe Manual. Any suggestions which is the better value, and what type of prices are folks buying these up for currently given the present state of the economy? There looks like a lot of well informed people on this forum, and so any and all help and comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Replying to: crazyfly (Apr 18, 2009 5:07 pm) They moved me from polished metal to atomic blue. In retrospect, I would rather have kept the polished metal and paid the extra 40 bucks and save 30 minutes of haggling. The blue looks real nice, but I'm not a teenager.

Replying to: fourfourtwo (Apr 18, 2009 4:44 pm) The main upgrades are: Power Moonroof 16" Alloy Wheels (LX has 16" plastic wheel covers) 350-watt Premium AM/FM/CD with 7spkrs/subwoofer (LX has 160-watt with 6spkrs) Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls 4-wheel Disc Brakes (LX has front disc/rear drum setup) Remote Entry with Trunk Release (LX doesn't have the remote trunk release) 60/40 split folding rear seat (LX has one-piece folding rear seat) AND Exterior temp indicator, USB audio interface, Ambient Console Lighting, Rear Cupholders and Passenger Side Seatback Pocket. In my opinion, the EX looks like significantly better because of the standard alloy wheels. The moonroof and stereo upgrade are also features I would want. I also prefer black interior, so that makes the EX even more attractive to me. All LX models have Gray Fabric interior, and the EX interior colors are as follows: Alabaster Silver and Crystal Black- choice of Gray or Black Fabric Atomic Blue, Polished Metal, Taffeta White & Royal Blue- Gray Fabric Rallye Red- Black Fabric (Rallye Red is the only color not available on the LX, just the EX) Using my Zip Code (Georgia), the Edmunds TMV (True Market Value) and pricing info is: LX- MSRP: $17,924, Invoice: $16,571 and TMV: $16,260 EX- MSRP: $19,975, Invoice: $18,432 and TMV: $17,961 Both models are available with 2.9% APR financing for 24/36 months or 3.9% for 60 months (if you qualify). The difference between the two is only $1700 according the TMV figures. The EX Coupe has a lot to offer for a few dollars shy of $18k. It would definitely be my pick for the extra features...and because I'd probably want Rallye Red. Hope this helps! I'd suggest calculating the TMV price using your Zip Code and color choice. Here's the link to do that- Civic Pricing
