FYI it's ok to mention the dealership name--just not their web site or an individual's name.

Here's the deal I ended up going with for the Civic EX AT Sedan in Virginia:

Car: $17,585 (incl. Destination)
Proc fee: $399
Tax: $540 (VA - 3%)
DMV: $76

OTD: $18,600

This including what they were calling Honda's appearance package: lug-nuts, mud guards, trunk tray and pin-stripping.

I also got quotes for the LX AT Sedan and the best were:

$15,788 (dest. included, $399 proc. fee, with the above accessories)
$16,388 (dest. included, $299 proc. fee, no accessories)

All negotiations took place over the internet with no surprises at the dealership.

There are several dealers in the Cleveland and Cincinnati area selling this car, including destination, for around $20,500. On top of that you have $250 standard doc fees, temp tags, and sales tax.

Oh my god! the tax makes such a huge difference. I bought the Civic EX AT Sedan yesterday for $19,500 OTD and that's cuz in CA sales tax is 9.25%. More than 1K more. Accessories are nice, but in the dealership they cost more than outside.
I think you got a good price. congrats on your new car!

Why is there such a large range of pricing. Ex civics go from 17,500 to almost 19,000 in different parts of the country

Yeah, I had no idea there was such a differences in taxes until I started reading this forum. The good news is you get to live in CA! I love it out there.

I agree on the accessories but that particular dealership includes them on all of their Civics. I passed on the pin striping and I doubt I'll use the wheel locks.

Congrats to you too!

I don't know what to make of the differences around the country.

I didn't even bother haggling with the dealer as it seemed like they offered a good deal right off the bat (via email.) They're moving to another location in June so I think they were trying to clear the lot.

Thanks

LX-S availability and pricing by igozoomzoom

I'm considering a new Civic to replace my '06 Mazda3 (love it but need an automatic). I considered the '06 Civic back in 12/05 when I bought the Mazda, but couldn't find a color combination that I liked. White is my favorite exterior color ("pure" white, not pearl) but I really dislike tan/beige interior. The Civic's Taffeta White was only available with beige interior at the time.

The Civic LX-S interests me because it has standard black interior (with silver stitching, which looks sharp in the photos I've seen). A Taffeta White Civic LX-S would be the perfect Civic for me. But I'm not having much luck finding one....

Is the LX-S hard to find? Anyone else priced or purchased on lately?
