After going thru the internet and getting quotes from all nearby dealers, I bought from the Borman Autoplex in Las Cruces, NM after being disappointed by the dealers in El Paso who didn't know how to close a sale for the life of them. The price of the car was about $17,900 after TX taxes and tags I was at about $19,200 OTD. El Paso Honda wanted $20k OTD and figured me stupid for a savvy internet buyer, I had offered $19,3 OTD to Rudolph Honda they were hesitant and I could tell it was going to take all day to get them there. I know people have been pleased paying about $18k (just the car, sans TT&L) and people from states with similar tax to TX were happy with $19,500 OTD, so having got it for $300 less than that I am very happy with my purchase. The best part was that Borman offered me that price and I took it that day. It was a nice drive up, the drive back gave me a chance to break it in. The other dealers had straight up LIED about Borman, I was in and out in about an hour and a half. If you live in El Paso, its worth it to go up there. I did not try Jack Key Motors, I figured 3 was enough to get me a good deal. |

I thought it would be appropriate to share my experience, so perhaps others can avoid falling into the same "trap." I traded e-mails with a number of dealers in the south bay (San Jose area). Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale was very responsive, but I was able to get a slightly better price ($19,300) from South Bay Honda in Los Gatos... or so I thought. I get there and it turns out that the car I wanted (and was promised via e-mail for $19,300) has door and fender protector/trim pre-installed for a retail cost of $350. This wasn't going to fly with me, so I called them on it. After several back and forths with the "manager," the Internet rep I was dealing with told me they could do it for $100. I don't particularly care about the $100, but what I do care about is that I was misled and "lured" to that dealership under false pretenses. Don't tell me you can do $19,300+TTL if you really can't. It's as simple as that. I walked away, and they didn't really seem to care to be losing my business over some lousy trim. To top it off, the treatment we received from South Bay Honda definitely bordered on downright rude. I am considering writing directly to Honda Corporate to inform them of my dissatisfaction with this dealer. Having purchased several other Honda and Acura vehicles at other dealerships in the past, this dealership is a disgrace to the Honda logo. Anyway, a quick phone call back to Hopkins Honda and they had a suitable vehicle in stock and they were willing to go to $19,400 (which was as low as I had gotten them via e-mail, anyway). After a little bit of haggling on-site, got them to throw in the trunk mat, splash guards, and wheel locks for the $19,400 price. Overall, a much better experience with much less jerking around. After the fact, the Internet sales guy at Hopkins mentioned that he's had a number of customers attempt to go to South Bay Honda in search of a better deal, but they often return because of similar tactics employed by South Bay. Not sure if he was just trying to fuel the fire at that point, but I certainly believe it ... |

| I received a price of 17,295.00 plus tax on Long Island NY. What would be a good price for LI, NY. Thanks for the help. | |

Is $17,900 OTD a good price for an automatic sedan LX? I've been working with several dealerships in the Dallas area but I can't get a feel for their "bottom". Also, do you think it's better to wait until the end of the month to purchase? This would be a cash sale too, any advice?

Replying to: cottongin1 (Mar 16, 2009 3:21 pm) The only differences between them are: 1) Black interior 2) Chromed muffler 3) Alloy rims 4) A little spoiler in the back P.S. I would advise to all of you to do a search on Edmunds, yahoo locals and other forums for dealerships reviews. I was amazed that some of those reviews actually matched my own experiences.
