Can you please tell us which dealership You bought your car from and if you can tell us how did you end up at that price. I mean if you can tell us how the negotiations started and what did you offer. Congratulations on your new ride. Thankyou

I'm set to pay and drive off Saturday. I settled on $19,906 with a dealer I like from a previous used-Accord purchase (the car I'm replacing). I test drove there last week, then called back today after doing research online and contacting three other dealers. He ended up grudgingly matching the lowest price given by other dealers, an amount it didn't sound like he was going to come close to offering otherwise. (It's $2419 under msrp, $435 under Edmunds' TMV.) Is this a good price? Anyway, out-the-door is $21,559 incl. $150 doc fee and sales tax. It also includes $100 for mud guards (which I requested). Financing: I got a 4% rate through my credit union, where Honda can offer 3.9% for a 4-year loan, so I'll give my credit union the business instead.

As a reference, I got the same car, same color, mud guards, $20,750, OTD on 1/14/09 and I know I could have saved $100-$300 more had I waited another week. Financing shouldn't play into the purchase price, so I'm not sure why that's mentioned. It's out there, go find it.

Replying to: jaymk (Mar 05, 2009 7:08 pm) I purchased my Honda at Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville, MD. I was very pleased with this dealership, very professional, efficient, and great experience overall. I highly recommend them. I negotiated via email and got the price I wanted from a dealership in Virginia. I contacted Jim Coleman and they agreed to beat my best price by $100.00. I walked in with my email offer from another dealer; and about 1.5 hours later, I left with my new car. I bought in February, when Honda was only offering $500 in marketing support; they are now offering $750. So, I imagine you might be able to get even a better deal now. Oh, and I started my negotations late in the month, not too late, but the third week, and purchased that Friday of the third week of the month. Not sure if that helped in my dealings. |
