It seems to me that raw numbers by themselves do not tell us the whole purchasing story. It would be helpful for us to also know whether or not the car is being financed through the dealer. If that is the case, you need to tell us that because of the additional profit margins on the loan payout. Did you finance your car through the local dealer? If not, you got a great buy. Almost too good to be true.

Hello:

Yup, sorry forgot to mention the financing portion. I financed 10K and paid the rest off cash. I got the 2.9% financing that Honda is offering thru March 2nd for 36 months, so about $297 / month, and about $400 + in finance charges. I plan to pay it off quickly, so I may not be too much of a moneymaker for them . I hope to also take advantage of the stimulus plan's amendment allowing you to write off the sales tax as an above the line deduction.

Hope that helps!

Anderson Honda Palo Alto, CA

Price: 15,925
DMV: 190
Tax: 1,393

OTD: 17,508

I used email to get the deal, had the check when I walked on the lot. Handed it over drove away in the car. No hassle, haggle , sales pitch except for an alarm they pre-installed and tried to sell for 495. No way.

All in all painless.

Now if you want to hear the tale of 4 used cars with clean car fax reports that all had been in accidents (mechanics inspection), 2 on Honda dealer lots, certified pre-owned...no disclosure. You know why I went and bought new.

Honda Civic EX Auto in DC area $19,020 OTD by spimby

Got a silver Honda Civic EX auto ...sort of in the DC area (Fredericksburg, VA - Pohanka Honda) for $19,020 out the door. Virginia sales tax is 3%. No pin-striping (thank god) or door guards. Got mud flaps, wheel locks and trunk tray included. Pohanka was *very* easy to work with and would recommend them. Low pressure and laid back. Got the 3.9% for 60 month financing too.

Just bought a leftover 2008 EXL Auto with Navi. Not sure if I got the best deal but I paid 19,995 with Remote car starter, pinstriping, and 2 options I said I did not want but were on the car anyway, Polyshield and Rock Guard. I added lojack for 695 and splash guards for 200. Did I do OK?

Well, the dealer I bought mine from in Virginia was offering this on the 2009 LX:

09 Honda Civic Sedan LX auto
MSRP :$18,155
Your Price: $15,927
Savings of about : $2,200
Plus freight,taxes and fees
For an out door price of $17,582 (Virginia has a 3% sales tax on new cars)

That would probably be a good price. I got my EX from the same dealer and it was a pretty good price.

2009 EX-L Sedan (Auto) by bill9902

Lowest price I have gotten so far (SF Bay Area) is $19,500 on a 2009 EX-L sedan (auto). Is this reasonable? Can I go lower?

I see that there is currently $750 cash to dealer. How does that factor in to exactly what they are paying for the car? They pay Invoice - $750? And who is raking it in with the destination fee?
