Stan stamped his table with his right fist
My favorite line that was used on me is, "Awww come on, I have to feed my family". I snickered and told him I had a tin can in my car and he could go stand on a street corner with it. I thought, how pathetic.

Does anyone have the Consumer Reports True Price Report? I'm looking for the data on the Civic LX-S for assistance with my negotiations.
Thanks

I never understood this technique. Don't I have to feed my family too? I also heard many salesman say that since one wouldn't negotiate the price of groceries as to convince you that he's doing you a favor knocking off another $500. I promised every salesman who dropped that line on me that I'd negotiate chips and beer once it became a several hundred dollar monthly payment for several years not to mention maintenance/repairs/insurance etc.

There comes a point when a customer works a deal down to a "mini". Once the price hits that point I dont care how much more of a discount you get because it all pays the same - $150.00. To me, you might as well try to get to net-net and I'll do what I can to help you get there. But dont kill me on the survey.

I approached the last few purchases that a perfect CSI is coming as long as the negotiations aren't too drawn out and the sales person has conducted themselves in a professional manner. If I'm feeling his CSI is starting to take a hit, "kindly" reminding him of this has always changed his tune.

This is not just Honda, but most dealers at some point of the transaction, stress how important either the phone or internet survey is to both the dealership and the individual sales person.

I bit the bullet and got it myself, CR is $17,570 Bottom line price for a Civic LX-S AT. I'm getting quotes in SC for OTD prices of:
$18,421
$18,874
$19,159
$19,708

That seems reasonable the Consumer Reports bottom line price is $17570 so the dealer is making a profit of $543.
Let us know if you do any better.
