Seems good to me

I'd say go for it, if you are going to pay a little bit more than 18K for an LX-S is a really good price.

Tough talk!

When people are nioce and friendly I'll go the extra mile for them. Your approach will turn a pleasant transaction into a battle and you won't end up saving any money in the end.

Unfortunately, your kind are not common among the Honda salesmen in my area. My attitude plan wasn't to be as trite as slove; I did relax a bit by keeping a few points in mind as I began shopping: (1) there were 4-6 other dealerships selling the exact same car within 50 miles, so no need to rush until I find the number I'm happy with. (2) Getting up walking out the door wasn't a strong suite of mine, however, my girlfriend was more than happy to chime in with an "I'm hungry," or "I'm late, can wrap this up?" when I found myself cornered or the discussion was leading to a dead end. Finally, and most important, the buyer is in control, especially in this buyer's market.

This was my first new-car buying experience and besides enjoying the thrill of debate and head-to-head bargaining combat, I visited a couple Honda dealerships that were farther out before I planned to buy the car from a more local dealership, as to practice. I'm sure glad I did, the first two practice runs were so embarrassing as far as falling into the hands of the salesman's word-play and number games, they make for great stories at the pub.

Quick buying experience story:
The first salesman on my first visit to a dealership (once I was ready to buy), used every classic sales technique on me. My favorite and final one was after my lady and I had been there about 45 minutes: about 20 minutes before closing time, Stan stamped his table with his right fist and said: "voltron12, you are a smart guy, I can see that, let's do $21,000 out the door and the offer is good until we lock up for the night. This price is unbeatable and you can not shop it around. If you come back tomorrow, the price will be higher, because I know you'll have shopped it around and won't be able to beat it, so I will raise it $200 and still know I have the best price. I'll let you think about it." There were a couple of fist-slams on the table in the middle of that sentence, nothing rude, just driving his point home with some racket. As he stood up and straightened his tie and buttoned his jacket, I stood up and let him know I needed a few minutes. I grabbed my cellphone out of my pocket to talk to "my sales manager" at which point Stan mentioned that by using my phone, the deal would be canceled. I have to admit, of all the techniques, that one had me thinking about pulling the trigger the most. Anyway, I ended up beating his price a little but never got around to gloating about it. I guess I know where I'm getting my oil changes, though... Super Service Stan.

Parting Advice:
The salesmen bargain car prices for a living, you (probably) don't, don't pay a penny more than you want. There's another dealership around the corner.

I dont know - still can't figure what you wrote, but if you are out the door TL and all for 18k and change, then go for it.

No way!

Just a month??? are they nuts, as long as they come up with a better offer at end of this one, I still don't get the idea of having this low APR offer for just a month since their sales fell 25%.

My favorite line that was used on me is, "Awww come on, I have to feed my family". I snickered and told him I had a tin can in my car and he could go stand on a street corner with it. I thought, how pathetic.
