Replying to: msubram1 (Dec 25, 2008 4:56 pm) Isellhondas clarified for me that he had me fill out an "options contract", to protect the contract that we had reached, giving me financing through Honda, when I came in with my own financing. Well, if the salesperson at Dublin explained this to me properly, instead of saying it was needed to crosscheck my information against the 'known terrorists' list and threatening to go show me the statute, I would have declined it. Screw what makes the dealers happy. This was the only thing that pissed me off. Isellhondas, I'm very happy I went with my own financing, even though it's at 5.99% APR instead of 1.9% APR. This was my first new car purchase, and my first interaction with loan documents and legal-ese. I don't know enough about how contracts are written to not get myself totally screwed over by the F&I guys, who I do not trust one single bit. I trust my bank, who I have done business for years and years, and has great customer service (USAA, for those who care). It's not always all about the buck. |

I just bought a Rallye Red 09 Si Coupe (no summer tires, no navi) for $20,995 plus tax (6.5%), doc fee (250) and registration (25). Shipping (destination charge) is included in the price. To this I added a HFP sport muffler (no performance gain, just sounds nice and looks great) and splash guards. I plan on adding HFP 17" wheels, summer tires (maybe the Michelins Honda uses, maybe something else entirely), HFP brakes and auto-dimming rear view mirror some time in the spring or summer. The local MSRP is 22475 (again, shipping included), so that's $1,480 off MSRP. Per Edmunds, Invoice is $20075 (without shipping). Assuming the local shipping charge is about $570, I must have paid about $350 over invoice. All in all not bad I think. I purchased it from Century Honda of Cincinnati. The quote was requested via email using their web site. I may be mistaken, but I think when you start your research on the Internet, and then request your quotes via email only (at first avoid giving them your phone number if possible), they'll put their best offer up front in order to lure you into the dealership (if they don't, you simply won't show up). Regards, E. |

Replying to: sinsd (Jan 12, 2009 10:00 pm) Sale price = $16,929 Doc Prep = $55 Sales Tax = $1316.26 DMV Filing Fee = $29 License Fee = $110 Registration Fee = $86 California Tires Fee = $8.75 (I have no clue what this is) Total OTD purchase price = $18,534.01 I hope this info helps others. I am very happy with the car. This is our third Civic (we had a 1986, and we still have a 1997 - which we still drive daily and has 180K miles with an original clutch!). I always thought Civics were very common cars and that it would be easy to find the combination we wanted. But, it appears that manual transmissions are only desirable by old geezers like me and it was a chore to find an LX-S with a manual in the Polished Metal Metallic color.
