Is this a good price for a 2009 Civic LX w/ automatic transmission?

Base price 17377, sales tax 1616, dealer fees 131, doc fee 50.

I'm in Seattle with its ridiculous 9.3% sales tax...

2009 Civic LX w/ AT in Bay Area CA by djbenbbad

I've been trying to get a great deal for the car.The dealers are saying they can't go lower than $16,700 + lic + tax which come out to $18,361.04 OTD.

Does anyone know a dealer near the 94531 area code that can give me a better deal. I saw a post that someone got a steal of $17000 OTD that is what I wish I can get.

I would haggle for less. Go online and submit a price qoute. That $650-680 destination charge is BS. They pay maybe $0-150 for delv. Good luck on getting your deal. I'm trying to get my car for $17000 OTD but no takers so far.

The destination charge is NOT b.s. The dealer pays that entire amount. You can argue whether it's a fair fee, but it's not a fee charged by the dealer, but by the manufacturer (Honda).

Pulling the trigger on an 09 Civic EX-L by voltron12

I'm quite sure I'm at or near the floor of the price for the 09 Civic EX-L Sedan. $20,600 out the door. Next thing is throwing in some extras (either free or reduced) on the way out such as remote start, Bass speaker system, and some cheaper stuff like cargo nets and rear seat cupholders.

What are other people getting for their 09 Civic EX-L Sedans?

extended warranty by jimb519

I picked up my car and finished the paper work on Friday. No extra pressure from the finance guy for the extended warranty but it is something I am considering. Paid $16,700 for the car which also included splash guards and all season mats. They offered the 7 year 120k mile extended warranty for $1195. I produced the document from Saccucci Honda where they sell the same plan for $825. The guy took it to his manager and they said they would match the price of $825. I do tend to keep my car a long time--currently 7 years and 165k miles. Thoughts from the forum experts---good deal or go without. Thanks!

Me personally, I never buy an extended warranty on a Honda or Toyota, but then that's me. Only you can judge whether the piece of mind that the extra warranty gives is worth the $825 to you. There are many differing opinions on this subject.

Also, be sure it's the Honda backed warranty and not some 3rd party fly by night operation.

Just remember that you have the option of buying the extended warranty anytime before the factory warranty (3 years, 36K miles) expires. You don't have to decide right away and the price difference is not too much if you buy it later.
Either way, if the extra warranty makes you feel secure and helps enjoy your new car, just go for it.
