I think that is a fair price. With Edmunds and all showing invoice over 20k, I don't think you can expect them to go much lower. I shopped and shopped it and don't think it is reasonable to expect a 1000 or more under invoice. Unless it is a sport to you to get the absolute last penny out of someone at some point you just pay a reasonable price. I needed the car, I was offered a fair price and took it.

Hi,
i'm actually in jersey now and spend more time in jersey than MD or PA where i live but i do know the tax in jersey is 6%. i bought mine in MD with price of $17.598 including tax and 100 dealer fee and the car was 16.5k. So if they're offering you at $16.056, how come your OTD price is much more than mine since the tax is the same?

Thanks. Acutally I checked with four other dealers. I went back to the original dealer who took $200 off the price of the car and is giving me $500 for my "98 Escort. The total out the door price is down to $17,751. All the other dealers want more even
after my pushing.

Hi. Actually the sales tax in NJ is 7%. The dealer has now offered to take $200 off
the price of the car plus give me $500 for my '98 Escort. The total out the door price is now $17,751. There aren't any incentives being offered and I need to get a new car now.

2009 LX-S 4dr with manual purchase in CA by westy_man

I purchased the Civic on 1/8/09 from Pacific Honda in San Diego. I dealt with Michael Leslie who is the internet manager. I live 300 miles away from the dealership, so I was a bit weary that when I arrived there was going to be some type of "added" fee or the good old "we just sold your car, but we have this other one that we can make you a great deal on" switcharoo. But, my concerns were unfounded. When I arrived, Mike retrieved the 2009 LX-S in polished metallic metal color which still had all of the shipping protective plastic coating stuff on the hood, trunk, etc. I got in and it had only 8.1 miles on the odometer. After I test drove it, he showed me a piece of paper with the price we negotiated over the phone and it was exactly what we discussed...$16,929 which came to $18,534 OTD. My previous best offer was from Lompoc Honda for $17,600 plus fees. Pacific Honda did some very low pressure sales for the extra stuff (extended warranty, lowjack, alarm, protective spray, etc.) which I politely declined. Overall, to my pleasant surprise, it was a great buying experience. Checking prices on this board was very helpful for my buying experience. I thank all of you that posted before me.

thanks!! ruking1 and backy

The dealer is pretty far away from my home, when I arrived at 7:30pm. They asked me to sign the financing contract within 1 hour (they have been trying to add hidden fees all the time, that is the reason I got pissed off).

So, you guys got some ideas on a good/resonable price on the LX 4dr?

I purchased a 2009 Civic LX with auto trans today for $17,000 OTD.
The breakdown was $16,125 for the car, $500 doc fees, and $375 for
tax and tags. The dealer was having what was advertised as a Honda
Regional Promotion Sale. I don't know what was involved in that as no
specific rebates, etc were mentioned but I like the price.

I've been trying to get a great deal for the car.The dealers are saying they can't go lower than $16,700 + lic + tax which come out to $18,361.04 OTD.

Does anyone know a dealer near the 94531 area code that can give me a better deal. I saw a post that someone got a steal of $17000 OTD that is what I wish I can get.

I would haggle for less. Go online and submit a price qoute. That $650-680 destination charge is BS. They pay maybe $0-150 for delv. Good luck on getting your deal. I'm trying to get my car for $17000 OTD but no takers so far.
