do you mean LA (los angeles) or LA (louisiana)? If los angeles, i'd like to know the dealership since i'm looking for an lx-s in the los angeles area and that seems like a good price to me.

You can prob do MUCH better on that LX-S. At or below invoice right now makes more sense. However, I did get my LX-S in San Diego for 18500. I ordered the color I wanted (negotiated and ordered sometime late in Oct/delivered Dec 9) thru Honda via my dealer; I KNOW I could have gotten it for invoice, but would have had to abandon the car and do it elsewhere. It wasn't worth the hassle.

The LX-S is a MUCH better value AND the black interior/leather wrapped steering wheel is VERY nice. The alloy wheels are a huge improvement.

It just makes more sense to pay the extra few hunnerd bucks for this trim. I am loving driving it!

Thanks sinsd. Did you get it for $18500, plus tax, license or $18500 out the door, including tax and license?

Looks like everybody who's buying the EX trim is buying the EX-L. What are the prices like for EX? Edmunds TMV shows MSRP, can I expect to get invoice or below? I'm in the Seattle area but willing to shop in Oregon and CA. Thanks!

Sphl --- west cost may be higher - but east at coast you can get 09 EX automatic at low18k.

Few desperate honda dealers from NJ, NYC area quoted me 18,050. That included destination and all junk fees but tax and dmv. The only catch was to “colors in stock” – out-dealers trades would cost little more. But it seems like everybody has plenty of stock.

I would wait few weeks. I heard that used market went south in November/December of 08. Friend of mine goes to Manheim Used cars sales auctions – he showed me reports from those auctions. Used 08 Civics EX auto are selling between 12k to 14k depending on miles (low teens to low twenties miles). 08 LX were sold even 2k cheaper.

I think new car market will follow next. He even showed me few civic 09 EX repossessed sold at auctions for low 15 with very low miles. Honda will probable drop the price and rates, Toyota and Nissan already did.

Stay tuned…

Thanks civic09! I actually just bought an infiniti and indeed the east coast prices are better but shipping cost doesn't make sense for civic, it did help w/ negotiations locally though. I'll look into used as well.
