Indeed ! Conversely it is a good time to be in the market negotiating the very best deals.

Well I am trying to get a civic lx sedan auto and 3 dealers gave me quotes $19+ OTD. I throw out my OTD in mid $17k and no dealers reply. I thought in an economy like this, at least they will negotiate instead of just ignoring customers...

Is the dealer losing money with your price? If so, why would they sell a car and take a loss? Be reasonable, don't believe all the prices posted here, and do your homework for your area.

You need to be realistic - like another poster stated - doesn't make sense to sell something and lose money - you can do that by not unlocking the doors to the dealership. Probably the best you will do on an automatic LX Sdn is in the high 16s plus TTL.

Hope this helps!

Jim,
Yes, that price included the destination charge. The only other fees that were attached were DMV($75) / Doc($40) & Tax(8% in my county) which were all standard. If you can you might want to take a swing at Rensselear Honda.

If that's the case, I guess they'd rather have a whole bunch of cars sitting in the parking lot and go belly up eventually like the big three than lose a little $ in an economy like this. Great thinking, America!

The invoice on EX automatic seems to be $19094. The best I can get in the NJ area is around $200 less than this. Which dealership is giving this for $18350?

Really? Can you explain your economic wisdom? You have a hard cost one every good. If you begin to sell below your hard cost to gain a one customer and then another and so on, how long do you expect the doors to stay open?

Say I borrow $1000.00 from you. A week later I pay you back $800.00 and tell you that you should be happy you're getting $800.00 in these economic times. Wouldn't you be happy you only lost $200.00? Now multiply that by 150 transactions. See the big picture?

The point is, the dealers can not help what they own the car for. And yes, there are sometime when we make take an actual loss on a car or two, but you start crunching the numbers it does not make business sense to start losing money on the majority of transactions.

Right price for EX-L Auto 4 door Sedan by misterjohnny

I see a lot of prices on here, but none seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. How much should I add for Auto? How much to add/subtract for 4 doors vs 2?

Lastly, how good is the NAV system? The car is for my father, and I want him to have some sort of NAV so he doesn't get lost getting to the grandkids soccer games, but not sure if he should go with the Honda option or a handheld Garmin.

Getting ready to get an 09 EX-L Civic here in DC area. I can wait a month or two if it looks like the Honda incentive financing might get better after the current rates expire 5 January. Any one have any insight? Am thinking dealers might be a little hungrier by then too.

ALso, NJP142, where did you get the EX-L quote at 500 under invoice, thats better that the few places I have checked in with so far.

Bought wife's 08 EX-L 4WD Pilot last summer using info on these boards, and felt good about price paid.

Thanks!
