No matter what they say, it is the price they charge for someone writing up the documents that primarily protect THEM, while giving that person the time to UPSELL you.   How much over invoice does www.edmunds.com indicate you are paying? So the quote I received is $401 *less* than the invoice.   As for doc fess - have people been able to negotiate them out? The best price I've found so far for a Honda Civic LX Coupe Automatic is $18,804. This includes all fees, destination etc. Is this a good price? Most of the other quotes were in the $19K range. Also, does anyone know the invoice of this model? It's not listed on Kelley Blue Book yet and I can't find it on the internet. The MSRP is $18,625. Thanks! Tax and title will still be the same, as the rate is where the car is domiciled anyway. Again this is pretty easy to find out from the git go. Just ask them. If they have what you happen to like, and the doc fee is (still ) high, go to the dealer that has low doc fees and tell them to search the inventory and/or ID the store that has the exact one you happen to want. Just make sure you know what they are when starting the negotiations and be sure to reduce your offered price by the amount of their dealer fee. Replying to: mikefm58 (Nov 08, 2008 8:25 am) I can understand that take/ attitude, especially since they are your nickels!   When I bought one of mine, (non Civic, $ 30. doc fees and the transaction was conducted over the phone, tops 7 mins) they also asked how I wanted it delivered ( even offering to drop it in front of my house) at no extra charge. The variables in the transaction were   1. 300 over 2. invoice 3. 30 doc fees. 4. plus TTL) 5. full tank   The Civic was 10% under invoice, $24. doc fees. plus TTL, full tank.
