Did the offer of $15,698 include destination? Was that for the automatic? Can you list the name of the dealer? Do you think that was an end of the month offer or is it indicative of the current economic climate? Thanks...

I just purchased a royal blue 2009 Civic LX-S Sedan (automatic) at Honda of Ithaca in Ithaca, NY. The entire buying experience was great; they have excellent customer service.

Price: $18,000 (+ TTL).
Invoice price on the car is $17947 (including destination).

I used the following site to educate myself on the car buying process:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com/carintro.html

There is a great Excel tool that I used:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com/offer.xls

With this information in hand, I first visited in person two local dealers and got their best quotes (these ranged from $18,500 to $18,800). I then emailed 6-10 dealers within ~100miles of where I live asking if they could beat the lowest price. One dealer about 100 miles away came back with a quote of $18,000. I then emailed back the local dealers to see if they could meet or beat the quote, which they did.
