change in market value? by usfcrim76

Hondaland in Tampa is taking on an extra $2995.00 and calling a "change in market value" in addition to the sticker prices. I first saw this when the '08s came out and thought it was just because they were a new model year. Took my '97 in for an oil change today and they still have this upcharge on the stickers. Anyone else seeing this around the country?

I'm gonna be in a position to pay cash for a new EX-2 door by early August.

"I am looking to buy or lease a Civic EX-L between now and July. Does anyone know when the best time would be?"

April 29/30, May 30/31, June 29/30, July 30/31. This will also give you practice. So a goal will be to get the same car for the cheapest price on any of those days.

Price and Mileage by grizwald

I am looking at a Honda Civic EX automatic. I contacted BJ's wholesale club buying program and can get it for $16,500 +tax and tags. From what I am reading this looks like it might be an OK deal? What does everyone think. Also what are people getting from mileage. I was looking at the other message board regarding this and it seems like everyone is getting in the high 20's and low 30's. I currently drive a ford escape and get in the low 20's. I just want to make sure it is worth my while to trade in. Thanks,

You might want to look at the thread " Honda Civic Real World MPG". MSG #1416 has (last check app 736 folks who took) a survey link. It will help you to literally find or extrapolate your likely position in the mpg scheme of things. For certain" X " promised mpg is NOT a slam dunk. The other is changing no monthly payments for monthly payments is probably not B/E.

..."To state the obvious, the overwhelming majority of participants in this poll (77.02%) get between 24 to 36 mpg. The mode (21.27%) get 27 to 30 mpg."...

That is nearly $2100 below invoice. Take the deal and RUN before they figure out they might have made a mistake!!

Are you upside-down on the Escape? If so factor that into the financial picture. Also consider whether you'll be happy switching from an SUV with a big cargo capacity to a small sedan. I made the mistake a few years ago of switching from a minivan to a small hatchback, and learned later my wife really liked driving a minivan (although she didn't complain about the hatchback when we bought it).

When i told him i didn't want it he said he would only charge me $1300. Said this would only be $100.00 above his cost of $ 1200. What is anybody elses experience on the cost of warranty?

Lease versus leadership program? by cmgirgis

Hi--never leased a car before. I was at the dealership today, looking at a Civic EX, purchase price would be $18579. I would want it at 15,000 miles for 36 months.

So I have a few questions:
1. I am in Chicago IL, and there is an 8% extra tax to lease versus purchase, which would make the leasing monthly payments higher. Are there any disadvantages to the Leadership program? I would likely purchase additional GAP coverage for $500 in case, which is mandatory with a lease, but recommended with the Leadership program.
2. How much should I put down? I can put down up to $3000, which would keep the monthly payments at around $250, but if I put $1500-$2000 the payments would be closer to $300/month. I know overall it's probably about the same, but I would rather keep the monthly payments lower if I can.
3. Is the Tire/Wheel extra insurance worth it? Anyone have any experience with this?
4. Also, what is the dealer invoice price for the EX civic? Is there a standard number (and if so, what is it?) or is it different for every dealership?

Thanks in advance!

Tax Credit Loophole by kmcclafferty

A caution on the tax credit. I utilized the tax credit as part of the motivation for purchasing my Civic Hybrid, however (furtunately and unfortunately) I make too much money and have too many deductions already to be able to take full advantage of the credit. I was only able to use about $300 worth of the credit. Apparently, the AMT can limit the amount of the credit you are able to utilize. Do some research before you count on the credit. I have a question, when you guys negotiated with the salesman, and then agreed to the final price, during the paperwork did ur business finance guy say that alarm does not come with the car and said he had to add $500 to the price to activate the alarm. Is that how it normally is?

Did I get an okay deal on the car? Sales tax was 8 percent, and got it 23000 otd including the alarm.
