Replying to: jjanders (Jan 26, 2008 1:09 pm) I can reccomend a dealer if you want to go up a bit from Mass. I'm up in NH and got a better than Edmunds TMV price on my Civic Si. Autofair Honda in Manchester, NH. The Internet sales guy I dealt with (Keith) was great! I can't speak for the others but I got invoice on the Civic LX, EX etc.. same for the Accord and the Fit. The CRV is a bit above invoice as is the Civic Si. I was happy with the deal and have had great service from them. There is also Bernardi Honda in Natick MA. I was going to buy a Fit from them but they are just too far and I need a local dealer to maintain the car.

All I know is they sell the cars for invoice and they ad a Doc fee which you can negotiate it's $399 but they won't lose a sale due to it. Look up Edmunds Invoice price on the car add in destination and that is what they will sell the car for OTD means nothing because if you are from a State with taxes you will have to pay those anyway. So the price you can actually buy the car for minute your taxes is the price of the car. My 2008 Civic Si cost me $20,999 OTD that is no other costs to the dealer. The Si was $500 over invoice. I don't work for them I just bought a car there.

Here is the deal. I am in the market to lease an 08 Civic LX Sedan. I have been in communication with a sales man and he offered me a 36 month lease with $500 down at $244 a month. I then replied and asked him to provide me with the break down of the numbers like would be on a Regulation M form. His response was instead of an email, a phone call and on the message machine he said that people just go by monthly payment, and that they just punch the numbers into the computer to get the numbers, and they really dont matter. What should be my next response? For $500 down at $244 a month is not an outrage, but I need to see the money factor. Im new to all this, is there a way i can find these with just the numbers he gave me? So far they are: Selling Price for LX Auto Sedan $16,895. $500 Down Payment for first month and motor vehicle fee's. 36 Months $244 a month. Any help would be great, thanks.

Replying to: dndcollect (Jan 28, 2008 10:57 am) Q: How to tell when are car salesman is lying? A: His lips are moving! (insert rim shot here) It's just a joke! Seriously, the reason the dealer wants to play payments with their customers is that why the customer has no idea if they are getting the best deal or not. They figure "I can afford $244 so I will sign the papers". Invoice is $16,984 including destination, so if your price invoice destination and dealer fees that is a nice price. The lease deal shown on the Honda web page is for a Civic LX AT and figures out to a 63% residual with a 0.00207 MF. I don't know if your payment includes tax or not and if so what the rate is, but $244 per month (no tax) equates to a net cap cost of $18,156. If your tax is in the payment and was 6% then the net cap cost would be $17,694. Any GOOD dealer I have dealt with has no problem breaking down the numbers to make the customer happy. Dennis
