i don't think purchasing a used 07 civic for 18,000.00 was a very good decision here. considering that i recently just purchased a 08 civic lx 2dr coupe brand new down here in south fla for 17,500.00 plus TTT........although i have the lx model and not the ex with navigation buying new for the same price as used works fine with me.......

Thanks for all the advice and good reading here! I finally signed on an 08 lx automatic sedan for 16,990 plus tax, title and doc in Western Mass. The dealer was surprisingly nimble on the price, which seemed odd at the beginning of the month

drop1, can you tell me which dealership you ended up dealing with? So far my best first offer out of 10 dealers is about $18500 OTD for the same car in the Chicago area. Is $150 documentary charge normal? Can you also give me an example of a counter offer email? Thanks! I'd love to get the OTD between 17500 and 18000 for the LX 4DR AT. I'm loving the Galaxy gray color.

Very easy to keep clean and I've gotten many compliments on it from total strangers. You won't be sorry. Looks much better with a set of Honda wheels also.

Invoice for the LX sedan auto is $16,984 . That plus 7% state tax would be $18,172.88 . I would assume there are also other things that have to be paid (GA lemon law, title, tags, local tax, etc).

What is your basis for your target number? Just sounds like a nice, round number? You have to base it on reality and not just a number you pluck from the air. Hold back on Hondas is supposed to be 3% of MSRP or $551.85 in this case. If you took the invoice less 100% of holdback and added tax (only) you would be at $17,582.40 and that does not include anything expect local tax.

So your target is the dealer selling you the car at invoice less 100% of hold back and then losing another $83.40 on the sale. Unless you have a trade in they can bury the loss in, I don't think it is going to happen.

Take the $17,700 offer or even the $18,084 offer, given your tax rate those are really nice deals.

Post which dealer gave you those prices as well, since others (maybe even me) might like to contact them for similar deals.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hello
I have been getting a lot of people asking me were I got LX Civic from and I have not bought one yet.
I know a person who works at a Dealer ship in Cincinnati Ohio and they gave me a price over the phone on a Brand new 2008 Civic LX with automatic transmission for 16900 plus tax title and Doc fee, which would bring the OTD price to about 18,295. I have seen some people say they got them for 16,100 but my friend told me this is very doubtful or they may have gotten a demo car or one with a manual transmission or even a Civic DX not the LX model, my friend told me that when I was ready to purchase I may be able to get the car for even less but I have to be at the store ready to buy and they will summit my offer to the boss.
I would be happy to get the civic lx for about 18000 out the door
When I buy I will post the results
Thanks

I just bought a 2008 honda civi EX sedan A/T for $18,990. This included destination. tax, lic,doc was extra. This was a little more than I would have paid < 500 or so, but they gave me a fair price on my trade in. $2,000 more than any of the other local Honda dealers and just $1,000 less than I had it listed to sale to a PP. Drove an hour to do the deal, just like I had negotiated via e-mail and left a happy customer.
