Even the local paper adds had manual 4-door LXs for $16,200!! Good place to start "haggling"!   I have been watching the Hondas since summer (almost bought one in Sep at the "big" model year end-closeout but didn't think it was quite as good a deal as I wanted) and the past 3 days is about the best I've seen so I broke down and got mine Sunday.   Had them down to 18,200 on a fully loaded 4-door automatic EX (everything but nav system and leather) and added the wing spolier and ground effects package, which put me up to the mid $19s.

i bought it on the last day of 2007. it is an ex with automatic transmission, no extra. the dealer gave a free package including the splash guard and wheel locks. I took a long time to do research here on the price and thought this should be the lowest I can get. but today another dealer just called me and said he can give me 200$ further discount than that. :s I am in VA and the tax rate was 3.17% in 2007 (i paid 540 for tax). i was told the new tax rate for 2008 is 1% or 2% more by the dealer of toyota and mazda but i am not sure. The retail price on my order is 17686$ (include the destination fee). Total OTD is 18600. Hope you can get a better price based on my experience. My dad called my dealer back home (Charlotte, NC) and they said they would sell me the car for $17,000. My dad then called a dealer in DeLand, FL and Daytona Beach. Both said they would do the deal for $17,000 (note: including my trade) We put them to the test and went to both dealerships and said that there was NO WAY that the dealer that I got the car from would do it for $17,350 and immediately shook our hands and sarcastically wished us luck.   I don't know, sometimes I just think that $20k for a Civic is a lot, but this is my 4th car and I have never been so proud/happy of another car! And I did get it pretty close to invoice once you add in the price for the extras added to the car. I'm getting jealous of seeing all these deals on the LX but I honestly thought that the seats in the EX and LX were too hard and so I decided to spend the extra little bit. I love it, but I am still curious to see what others are paying

I thought my deal was fairly decent, but now I am feeling a little low about it. After purchasing, today I got another online offer that was $100 lower than I paid. But my deal was at least lower than two other offers I received.   18,303+ 549.12tax, 74 title, 398 doc fee (non negotiable) 19, 325 total It is a great car and fun to drive so I need to be kind to myself about it!

Replying to: wooder (Jan 02, 2008 12:16 pm) From my research on the cars, the sedan is about 200 dollars more then the coupe. I was also considering the sedan but ended up going with the coupe. See what he can do for you, hes a good guy, I was a little afraid because I life far from the dealership, but he was even nicer in person then on the phone so it all worked out! Let me know how it goes.
