It's still a Mitshibishi and they don't sell.

Really? I just bought a 2008 Lancer. It's a fantastic car that offers more bang for the buck than a Civic. At least the Mitsubishi salesperson I dealt with was friendly and courteous, totally opposite of the arrogant "take it or leave it" attitude so prevalent among Honda dealers.

Those prices are right in line with what they should be. I purchased my 2007 Civic EX automatic 4dr Sedan w/Nav for $19750.The conveyance fee(registration only since I am using plates from my old car) which they charge an extra $20 for and taxes brought the total to $21076.Now if we can figure out a way to get around these insane tax issues it would be an unbelievable deal . I thought about not getting the nav and saving a almost $2000, but decided since the resale value is so good, its worth the extra bells and whistles. Its rare to see the voice operated Nav/Satelite radio in a small car.I have only seen them in $30,000+ vehicles. I will probably keep the car for about 50,000 miles and then trade it in for a new one(wish I could do that with my wife sometimes )Also, with gas prices edging back into the high $2 range, the 30-40mpg is worth it to me.All I can tell you is go for it.

FWIW: I was at my Honda dealer this past week and spoke to my sales person. He said sales were a little slow right now, but once summer hit and gas was above $3 per gallon they will sell every new Civic before they even hit the lot.

Well, I don't have that attitude nor do the others where I work.

I wasn't knocking Mitshibishi nor do I think they are bad cars. They just aren't big sellers for whatever reason.

You may lose that "bang for the buck" later when it's time to sell it or trade it in.

I just got new Honda civic yesterday after visiting 2 other dealers and researching my first choice the Jetta( one wanted $20300, and one $22000 OTD ) first I want to thank everyone for all the valuable information I learned here, the dealer was trying to charge me for all those extra that were on the car already: fabric protector, painted side tripe, mud flaps, trunk tray( yes, you guessed it, each one for $495), but the little petite woman insisted that I didn’t ask for them nor wanted them, and he could take them off the car, ( I was very pleasant and smiling and joking with him, I don’t have an assertive side at all, I am very softy but I had set my mind on paying 18500 OTD. Finally I left in my new car that have the strip. the cloth protection, and the tinted windows ( will be done on Monday) for $18700 drive out on an 18355 invoice sticker, did I get a good deal? taxes here are 6.25% I also decided to purchase the extended warranty for peace of mind 6yrs/ 100k ( I am single mom now ) I paid 1140 for that. Thanks again to everyone, you were a blessing, I swear I would had paid what they told me to 10 days ago without any arguments, thinking I didn't have a choice since they are on the car already!

Shana, you got what for $18700 OTD? EX, LX, auto, stick? Where? Yes, this is a very helpful place. I came here in 2002 when I bought my Civic EX coupe and was able to get up and leave when I didn't get what I thought was a good deal back then. They called the next day and I had my car. You just have to be calm and informed.

Shana -

One number might help a few of us out a little more - what was the base price of the car? Minus TTL, minus your options, minus destination... what was that number?

THANKS!

Loki

PS. You might get a better price for a warranty online.

They worked the number out like this: $17384.28 taxes $ 1086.52 dealer inventory tax $52.15 document fee $50 and L and state inspection $127.05 = 18700.
Isn't it too late to cancel the warranty from the dealer and buy one on line?

Thanks..
