Financing Deal by loki74

Hi -

I've seen a couple references to the Civic financing deal in recent posts. At least one post said it ended at the end of March. Edmunds and MSN seem to indicate it ends at the end of APRIL for my area. Does anyone know which is correct? I live in the Baltimore, MD area, and I'm looking to take advantage of the good APR, since loan prices are jumping UP.

Also, any other advice for someone in my area? I'm going to get an LX Manual, no add-ons, not too picky about the color (just not the tan or light blue:).

THANKS

loki--

You can go to www.automobiles.honda.com and click on "current offers". They list all the national offers, but also have a box where you can enter your local zip code to get "regional offers". My region (OK) only listed the low financing through March, but I haven't checked recently. It wouldn't surprise me if the offers ended soon since spring/summer tends to bring out all the hibernating buyers. I would trust Honda over third party websites although Edmunds is usually pretty good with up-to-the-minute information.

Stay out of these boards.

Peiople come here AFTER they have bought. They state the price they paid and ALWAYS, someone will come along and tell them how they paid too much!

I will never understand this.

Then there are the "prices paid" that never happened. I think some of this is just one-upmanship or else they really don't know what they paid in the end.

Then there are the psople who are scared to death that just maybe, somehow, somewhere, someone else just MIGHT have paid a few dollars laess than they did.

Life is short folks, enjoy!

BTW sales tax in the Seattle area is a whopping 9.1% on all cars. New or used. They keep reminding us how we have no state income tax but we are taxed to death on everything else. no free lunch!

The time to come to this forum is before one purchases to get information about how to proceed with their pricing strategy, not after. And most folks seem to forget a key variable in the car buying process...the value. Everyone has a different value quotent I suppose. Some people value their time and don't want to spend weeks of e-mail, faxes & phone calls to get their best price. Others truly enjoy the quest and love it. Still others have a target price in mind and if they get to that point, no matter how much lower they could go, find their value then.
I love cars but don't love the negotiation part. Edmunds has helped to make me a better and more informed car negotiator, but I'm no shark in these things as many are. Did I pay more than others on this board...yes. But at the time I purchased, I had hit my target price and felt I got good value for the price I paid. Also, I bought towards the end of the model year which didn't have deals as good as now. But timing is everything in life and am happy with my Civic. i got the value that I had hoped and enjoy the car more day after day. End of story.

I agree, sandman. Time absolutely has a value and some people love bargaining, which *gives* them value. The concept of a "good deal" is nebulous, and certainly can't be reduced to a number.

Like you, I'm happy with my Civic. It is the best car I've ever owned.
