#3788 of 10531 Are these reasonable charges? by opticalgal

Hi all:

I thank you in advance for helping an inexperienced buyer out. My co-worker told me about this website- it's great!

I just started looking at the Civic because I like the way it looks. When I stopped by a Honda dealership near my house in Falls Church, VA, I noticed something on the car window stickers.

I know that the car company puts a sticker on the window with the price, but next to this sticker was another smaller one, about half the size. On it says:

Market Adjustment ...... $1995
Wheel Locks ..... $299
Mud Guards ..... $299

Now, I know I'm no expert at this, and maybe the salesman was trying to hoodwink me (I HOPE not because I am female), but aren't these unusually high?

The guy told me that "this is what it costs us." That can't be true, can it?? I cannot for the life of me imagine how four black rubber pieces can cost almost 300 dollars.

I just received two other quotes recently for a 2dr ex 5spd manual w/o nav for $18,350 and $18,195 incl dest. Does this sound good or should I see if it could be lower? Like I've stated before I have never purchase a car before using internet quote. Can I just ask for a lower price? Invoice is $17,434.

I hate to tell you. You been sucker, the price is too HIGH in my opinion. I have the Mud Guards install at the dealership for $118 product and Labor. You need to shop around with other dealership. Sometime other dealership would match the offering with other place.

Good Luck!

I'm not from CA, but I visit there 2 time this month. The 5SP manuel is little tough in the traffic jam, steep hill, cities wise. I been notice CA been getting more crowded everytime I visit that state. I can't enjoy the natural beauties of the state anymore. Beside getting cut by speedy Gonzales. I would recommend (manuel) if it was rurual area of CA. Yet, $18235 is not bad for the price. That if it fully load for the vehicle. How much they offer you for Auto? Curious mind.

that guy is giving you a line of b.s. I would look around. those b.s prices that they add on are negotiable. When we were looking for a car one of the dealerships had an environmental package for $l,295. we ask them what that was for. they said in a negotiating tool for them.

Got the car this morning. $350.00 over invoice price.
OTD price is $20,373.00

Got a Costco quote of $19,161 before TTL, which is about $1000 over invoice according to Edmunds.

This is from a San Jose dealer.

So your price before TTL must have been around $18,500?

" we ask them what that was for. they said in a negotiating tool for them "

Wow, at least they were honest. I agree with the others, those prices asked are unreasonably high. Whenever I see a dealer that puts a "market adjustment" sticker on, I just walk away and won't waste my time with them.

Would you share your price before TTL, and your geographical location? Thanks.

#3797 of 10531 iPod Music Link prices? by wco81

What are you getting quoted on having this installed?

Does it work well? Big enough upgrade over hooking up the iPod via the Aux input?

What are some other good dealer-installed accessories? Mats? Sunroof visor?
