Just a few hours after she said they had the car I wanted and offered such a low price, I drove to the dealer to find the car. They did not have the car but they did have several others unsold including one in Silver, and one MT. I doubt that in that few hours they got an offer and sold it and the car was gone off the lot. Possible but very doubtful. Neither is what was specified. The e-mail she sent was "boilerplate" and gave very little detailed info other than the blanket statement that they had the car I requested in stock and the price was 18,310 and that was only good on cars in stock. When I spoke to her she just wanted me to come to the dealership. I feel she just wanted to get us there and offer a different car they had on the lot. It felt pretty shaky, and her behavior in e-mails and on the phone was suspect. My gut feeling was to avoid her and dealing with her was wasting my time. In the end I'm glad I did and am happy with the dealer I bought from and actually got a better deal from them (I could never get her to tell me if that included Dest so I assume it didn't). In the end I stand by my opinion. You may want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but you weren't there. When I'm about to spend close to 20 grand on a product, I want to trust the person I'm dealing with. If I have to spend a little more I'd rather buy from someone I feel is being honest, as a matter of principle I try not to reward poor behavior. Even if it costs me a few bucks. A lot of lousy stores out there.   I just wish people would follow my advise...Ask your friends, neighbors and co-workers for a REFERRAL! Heck, if you see a new Honda in the Costco parking lot, ask the owner where he/she bought it and ask if they would refer their salesperson!

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." It would come back to haunt me if I did something wrong.   But looking at it from a "tip" standpoint may "work." I will ask around and see. The reason that I asked on this board first is I don't want any paranoid person in my area thinking that I am "pulling a fast one."   I would like to pay under invoice or around there for a red coupe in Jan. I made a huge mistake months back and told salesmen I was going to pay cash. This time I will ask to get the numbers in writing before I tell them. They want to sell you financing so if you mention cash you don't get the best deal. This is my experience thus far. But who knows? "Paying cash makes no difference to a dealer. We get paid the same either way. "   The salesperson may get paid the same but isn't it true, the dealership makes more when the vehicle is financed by purchasing the loan and reselling it to the individual??? If it was a non-issue why would the salesperson ask "How are you paying for this.", within the first ten minutes they speak with you? If one has been following the GM saga, much has been written about the fact that GM Credit GMAC is by far one of the more profitable aspects of GM.   When I bought my 2004, from one of the salesman, no less than the organizations finance director made a full court press to get me to consider financing.

Only comes up when they start processing the paperwork AFTER I have decided to purchase.
