2005 C230 Kompressor Sedan by dprovons

My new 2005 C230K sedan was delivered to me on September 28. It is black with Ash interior, has the sunroof package and the glovebox-mounted CD changer. I chose it over: BMW 325i, Saab 9-3 Arc, Lexus IS300, Acura TSX, and Infiniti G35 sedan. Every time I drive it, I am more convinced I made the right choice.

Everything's great so far (1200+ miles already). The car has great acceleration, point-and-shoot steering and handling and is still a great highway car. It has a really aggressive, sporty style and, with the black paint, gets a lot of oohs and ahs from friends, neighbors and complete strangers. Not that I go for that kind of thing. Really.

C230 Sport Sedan Wheel Size by mbz66

Hi All,
The original rear wheels of my C230 Sport Sedan (2004) are of 8.5 X 17 X ET34.
Due to accident, I looked for a replacement and found a wheel of 8.5 X 17 X ET30.
I'd appreciate help with answers for the following questions.
What is the meaning of ET34 versus ET30?
Is it OK to replace the ET34 with ET30 wheel, although the first two numbers (8.5 X 17) match?
Many Thanks.

Hi All, my name is Al and I am a first time mercedes owner. I have a 2001, -Class with 38k miles and it needs new tires. I know the right tire will give you a quiet and smooth ride and I asking for recommendations. I don't desire to pay for 80k mile tires, as they always dry-rot before I get 50k. But, if that's recommended, I will be happy to purchase them. Please reply soon. Thank you. Al

Post your tire question over in the A&A board. Connor most likely has some good suggestions.

2005 C240 Vibration Problems - Help by lipp

Bought a 2005 C240 4matic in December. At 3,000 miles car developed a vibration at 50 mph. Dealer checked brakes, front end, tires. Re-balanced all tires and problem persisted. Dealer then checked the balance of the drive shaft and replaced drive shaft. Yes, replaced drive shaft. Problem disappeared for a month then came back at 40 mph. Problem persists when car is cold. Dealer replaced Michelin tires with Michelin tires - same OEM tire. Problem remains. Replaced flex connection. Problem still exists. Dealer now replacing tires again with Continental. Will pick up today. Wish me luck. Anyone have similar problems or do you know of a solution. Dealer is cooperative but guessing. Is the problem with the tires or is the Lemon Law in my future??? Car has been in shop for 20 days since December 1, 2004.

Vibration Problem - Answering Post #97 by paul_p

I experienced a strange vibration problem in my Y2K C230. Around 12,000 miles, on the highway approx. 60 MPH it developed a vibration. I pulled off the highway and stopped the car, then when I started driving again the vibration went away. This happened one more time at about 14,000 miles.

That was over a year ago - the car now has 18,000 miles on it, and it has not happened since. Very strange. Local dealer had no idea what it could be. I have my tires balanced at least every 6,000 miles, so I doubt it was that. I am starting to drive the car again after storing it for the winter (no salt, no way) - so far, so good!

I have to echo the responses of others that it has been my experience that nobody knows these cars better than the Mercedes dealerships - although some have been better than others for me.
