| This is ongoing problem. Only 36 k.mi. last year, went to dealer, they said it needed a fuel pump, they obviously did not know what to do. I never saw a Jaguar service manager who knew less than I did about Jaguars.Dropped them found a good mechanic,he is trying I am trying to help him. Perfect example, day before xmas. My wife is at home depot. comes out car is dead. Did not call me,she waited, after almost two hours went back in car,it started. This has happened about 12 times in the last year. Mechanic has changed lots of relays thru out the car the last one was in the trunk. We thought we had it. Three weeks. It sits at our house. Mechanic is making calls every where, looking for an answer. Anyone have any ides? Thanks Rod | |

I've been looking at 06-07 VDPs. Their Carfax reports almost always mention service reports early on that say, cryptically, "Computer reprogrammed" or "Computer reset." What's up with that? Is that a specific issue, covered under warranty? Also, their A/C coolant gets recharged after a year? I've read that Jaguars are more reliable now. Is that true, or advertising? Dare I return, after swearing them off a decade ago?

I'm thinking about purchasing a 99 XJ8L with 70,000 miles on it. I took it for a test drive and noticed that sometimes the tranny would act like it was stuck in neutral then slam into gear when starting from a dead stop. The dealer had it checked and said that it was not a transmission problem because it was not throwing any codes out and said sometimes these things work themselves out or get worse. Any ideas?

| When I try to run the diagnostics through the on-board VCM, it flashes "PAO FAIL". Anyone with a clue as to what this means? Thanks, Alan | |
