What is this discussion about?
Mazda Protege, Sedan
#10190 of 24043 OK guys, Larry asked me to do this.

As you may or may not know, Edmunds used to archive discussions after a certain number of posts and start a new one. We had Mazda Protege 1 through Mazda Protege 6 prior to this new arrangement.
I just went back and added up all the posts since Mazda Protege 1, whose first post was on January 4, 1998.
To make a long story short, whoever makes post 10,000 will really be making the 14,709th post on the Edmunds Town Hall Mazda Protege topic!
#10193 of 24043 should I mp3 my suspension?
Mar 22, 2002 (10:26 am)
I've been toying with the idea of buying the mp3 suspension parts (lowering springs, shocks, struts, stiffer sway bars) from mazdastuff.com for my 02 Pro ES. At minimum, I'm going to install the strut tower brace, but I'm not sure about the rest. That will run a good chunk of change. Plus, this is my daily commuter, so I wouldn't want too much daily drivability. On the other hand, the MP3's suspension is the "cats meow" according to the various car geeks who have reviewed it in the magazines articles I've read.
What do you folks think?
Anybody in the Colorado front range area have an MP3 in which I can take a ride?

Bogg: Why are you glad you traded in the Jetta? Did you have the VR6? I hear they get bad economy. I get 23-25mpg with my 1.8T, and even 23 or so with regular grade gas (used it once, but changed back to premium).
SFrat: I would be glad to take you for a ride in my car, even around this area. I told you, I hang out with a friend who lives on Connecticut Ave. NW & Military Rd. in DC, so that's right near where you live. I can take you for a ride around Chevy Chase circle at 50mph. Just kidding.
Meade: I hope to be 10,000. Wouldn't that be funny?

I hear the MP3 suspension setup provides a buckboard rough ride. If it's anything like my Jet with 17s, it's rougher than the Pro ES is.
#10197 of 24043 Fuel prices...
Mar 22, 2002 (10:31 am)
Down here around DC where I work, premium goes for like $1.60 or so a gallon. That's why I gas up in Baltimore to the tune of $1.35-1.45 a gallon (even for premium). If these prices keep going up, I am going to have to start cheapening out and using regular again.

I forgot, I am going to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend. I am staying at a friend's house about 30 mins. outside of town. Maybe I will have to stop by and say hello or something. Can I drive your Pro if I come out??
