That's how it works in my zip code:

"$1,000 customer cash plus Hyundai's "$1.49 Gas Summer Sales Event" is not combinable with the $2,000 cash offer."

2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Incentives & Rebates

We'll move this thread over to the Hyundai Santa Fe Prices Paid and Buying Experience discussion - have fun shopping!

I hadn't thought to check the Edmunds page. Same story for my zip code.

"Fun" is not a word I've ever associated with car shopping. Except for the last car I bought (first time with internet sales) I feel like taking a shower by the time it's done. This time around though, even dealing with internet sales, so far it's looking like another shower is coming.

OTOH since I spent some time selling cars in an earlier life I do amuse myself predicting what the salesman or manager is going to say/try next.

But I've still got some time. I'm waiting for the CARS program to get in full swing. I'll either buy in late July for delivery the first week of August (if they agree) or just buy in early August.

I'm in Roanoke, it was about 6 hrs round trip. But for the money I saved, it was worth it. We only have 2 local dealers and neither of them would touch the price.
I only looked at SE FWD and of course you are looking a much higher model plus AWD. I'm sure someone will come along with much more knowledge than I have to help you out.

dealers fail ro respond by azj

One thing I've noticed in my initial dealings with dealers this time is that several absolutely refuse to respond to email.

This time around I decided to email all the dealers within 100 miles of 85023 and ask for their best out the door price on a new 09 SF SE 2WD. Depending on their website I either used the web contact form, the internet department's email address or direct email addresses if given. One was contacted through Costco's web car buying service. My hope was that this would reduce confusion and give me a printed record of what was promised.

Of the 10 I contacted, San Tan in Gilbert and Tim's in Prescott haven't responded at all to repeated emails. Tempe, the Costco dealer, called and left a message but hasn't responded to my emails. And I thought dealers were hurting.

The rest have been painful. All have required a series of back and forth emails due to quoting the wrong vehicle, forgetting to make it an out the door price, disagreements about SE standard equipment or having to re-answer questions that were answered in my original request. One guy's emails read like a series of text messages- sentences run together, no capitalization, mis-spellings, etc. Another called and left a message that included a comment that I would also get an email because "that was my preferred method of contact". So then why did he fracking call?

Thanks, but I checked their website and unfortunately they only have one Limited AWD and it's black. There's no way I'm getting black - WAY too hard to keep clean.

In general, am I crazy to want an AWD? It seems like dealers carry very few of them and almost everyone here seems to be getting FWD. I know it add about $1,500 to the cost, but it's nice to have in the snow or if you go to the Outer Banks and want to drive on the sand!

I don't think you are crazy. I think you should buy what you can afford. I would have bought an AWD SE if I could have, but I knew what I could and wanted to pay.
I have had an AWD in the past, and I very rarely used it. Have you looked at an SE AWD? I know they are not as plush as the limited, but might be a consideration if you are trying to keep the price down. JMO

Should I worry about a new car that already has 300 miles? by CowherPower

Ok, so I finally found a 2009 Limited AWD in the right color, but it already has 300 miles. I'm in northern Virginia, and it turns out that the dealer did a swap with a dealer in Pennsylvania and they drove the car down. I don't know anything about break-in periods, but I can't imagine that it's good to put a brand new car on the interstate and drive it 300 miles. Should I be concerned, or are break-in periods mostly a thing of the past?

Thanks!

2010 Santa Fe by shivelyt

Anybody hear anything about what's in store for 2010. The current model is getting pretty stale. I had heard that they were going to make 2009s only thru May and then start producing 2010s forward. Some design changes expected. They need to work on gas mileage.
