Replying to: clueless17 (Jul 02, 2009 4:27 am) Thanks for the tip on checking West Broad. I'm in northern Virginia, so that would be a haul, but maybe I can get a better quote from them and then use it up here.

I see on the Hyundai web site that the $2000 SF rebate continues for the month of July. They also have on the top of the page an offer of $1000 rebate and a year's worth of gas at $1.49/gal. I assume that you get to pick one or the other?

I hadn't thought to check the Edmunds page. Same story for my zip code. "Fun" is not a word I've ever associated with car shopping. Except for the last car I bought (first time with internet sales) I feel like taking a shower by the time it's done. OTOH since I spent some time selling cars in an earlier life I do amuse myself predicting what the salesman or manager is going to say/try next. But I've still got some time. I'm waiting for the CARS program to get in full swing. I'll either buy in late July for delivery the first week of August (if they agree) or just buy in early August. |

One thing I've noticed in my initial dealings with dealers this time is that several absolutely refuse to respond to email. This time around I decided to email all the dealers within 100 miles of 85023 and ask for their best out the door price on a new 09 SF SE 2WD. Depending on their website I either used the web contact form, the internet department's email address or direct email addresses if given. One was contacted through Costco's web car buying service. My hope was that this would reduce confusion and give me a printed record of what was promised. Of the 10 I contacted, San Tan in Gilbert and Tim's in Prescott haven't responded at all to repeated emails. Tempe, the Costco dealer, called and left a message but hasn't responded to my emails. And I thought dealers were hurting. The rest have been painful.

I know it add about $1,500 to the cost, but it's nice to have in the snow or if you go to the Outer Banks and want to drive on the sand!
