I experienced the same situation, due to the low residual value of the Santa Fe. We ended up buying the Santa Fe, and are very happy.

Hyundai is a great new car buy, but an even better 1-2 year old car purchase.

thanks for the reply iam,
I don't mind the CR-V, but this will be my wife's car and she doesn't like the look.
I'll be going out this weekend to see what I can do. We've been leasing for years and don't really want to bump my monthly over $400.
It looks like I can get a decent monthly on a Rouge lease, so I may go that route.
I'll let you know how I make out....

Well, I bought it and this thing rocks. It has so many features it's ridiculous. A ton room and storage areas, extra 12vdc plugs in various locations, the stereo is great once the equalizer is tuned up, the USB port works great with my scandisk mp3 player and a normal usb cable. It's quiet, fast and the ride is very smooth with the 3.3 L. The blue lights are just like my VW dash, I like it. OK what it don't have that I'm use to. Keypad entry system and a rear window that opens. I am not sure if the roof racks spread far enough to accommodate my canoe. Other than that, this is a sweet ride. So my bottom line cost for this 2009 limited\no nav ended up with 2k rebate, sale price, tax, fees and a 4k trade in allowance for my 2001 explorer sport ended up 23,300 OTD here in Florida. You got the watch those fees.

2 dealerships in Chicagoland gave me quotes on 2009 SF SE AWD: $22,780 plus ttl, destination fee included. It's $24,780 before the current 2k rebates. Does this look like a decent deal? Thnx.

I got my SE for $21,900 before trade in. It is on order and is supposed to be here in two to four weeks. Is this a good price?

You can do better than that. I got mine for 21,900 and it is an SE. This is the first time I have ever dickered for car price and, upon reflection, I think I could have done better had I waited a bit. Go on the internet and get five price quotes. Ask your local dealer to match the lowest one. Be patient and wait. Also, try to get them to waive the dealer fee. In my state it is $600. This is where I messed up -- didn't negotiate that part.

My total was 21,477 including all taxes and fees. It is an 09 SE FWD. That was in Richmond VA.

What is the reasonable obtainable price for 2009 Santa Fe GLS / auto transmission? It seems like the MSRP is $23,870. What price should I be shooting for, before any rebate/finance deal? Thanks.

Is this a good deal for a Limited AWD? by CowherPower

Ok, I found a dealer who has a 2009 Santa Fe Limited AWD without any extras (other than floor mats) with an OTD price of $27,450. For comparison purposes, if I take out the tax, title, and processing fee, their price is $26,413. The Edmunds TMV price is $27,181.

Should I try for better, or am I already doing pretty good since it is already $768 under the TMV?
