Lease Is Up, Buy or Lease Again? by hinknet

I have a 2007 Santa Fe Limited with 8,100 miles, yes 8,100 miles. Leather package with 3.3 V6, 2WD, sunroof, rear air, 3rd seat, single CD + MP3 and towing prep package. Car is in excellent condition. No AWD or DVD. My 30 month lease is up in August 2008. My buyout is $16,600. I love the car and have equity in the car when you consider the mileage and pristine condition. The question is....am I better off keeping it or leasing a new one? I am retiring within a year and will probably increase annual mileage a bit but not excessive. The car has never given me a lick of trouble but considering the economy, am I apt to get a better deal on a new lease?

if you want to keep the '07 SF at end of lease, consider offering LESS for the car. when august rolls around, check out the kelly blue book value for the SF and then OFFER the finance company DEALER TRADE-IN value for it, which would be substantially less than your current 16.6k buyout.

i've done that numerous times when my leases expire. they'll take it, because otherwise they'll have to auction off the car and they know they'll get less than what u offered. if they balk, consider other options, like a new lease or car make.

$24,255 for an 09 LTD FWD seems like an excellent price. I am looking at the same configuration here in Sacramento California. $2000 below invoice on a 2009 is a lot. This was a 2009 and not a 2008, correct?

Yes this is new 09 not a 08. This was the best I could get after shopping several dealers. 09 Ltd FWD with no options but mats and cargo net. MSRP 29,770
Invoice 28,225 less 2,000 less $2,00 rebate. I'm pulling the trigger this next weekend.

Same here. My 07 AWD SF SE purchased in 07 ($24,500) was more than my 08 AWD Vercruz SE ($21,500). Of course, I had 6k in rebates with the Veracruz compared with 2k for the SF.

Zoom, would you mind letting me know the dealer name. I am going to match your pricing this weekend.

Thanks
