If you buy out of state you would only pay taxes in New Jersey.

Is $21, 658 OTD a good price on a 2008 Santa Fe Se, V6, FWD? I didn't know that you get taxed on rebates?

Check out Fitzmall, they have six in stock that are priced lower, you should be able to do better, Ask your dealer to beat Fitz's price.

I'm in the same boat but don't worry, I need a third row so we're not competing for the same cars:) NY Maverick -- question for you: what kind of financing if any did you get on your Santa Fe? I love the price you got but was it with the 2.9 % financing they're advertising now?

Joobster, I went with Hyundai's $3500 cash and went with my own financing from my bank. You cannot get BOTH 2.9%APR on top of the $3500. It is either/or. Edmunds has lots of calculators that will help you analyse what is more worth it. Bear in mind, sales tax is applied against the value of the vehicle before the cash discount.

So far no luck. Unfortunately it seems impossible to find a Santa Fe with a 3rd row and AWD that is not a Limited model with either Navigation or Entertainment. Which in turn means that the lowest that the dealer would go was 26,500, (after rebate), with me doing financing independently through my bank. Am I not negotiating hard enough? P.S., this was at Towne Hyundai in Denville.

I should add that he later said he retracted the 26500 OTD because he didn't think he could do it. I'm thinking that if the limited is 23K OTD, add 1407 for 3rd row, add navigation for I think it was 1200, = 25607. Would have paid this, maybe, OTD, but that's about my cut-off. Too bad.

Ok, like Ripley, here's my last entry. Came home today with a used Pilot, just under 40K miles, and 20K out the door. Am sad that could not buy a Santa Fe, as it gets 19 MPG vs. Pilot's 17 -- which has a fairly large affect on the old carbon footprint, as it turns out. But these ridiculous dealers will not stock (and can't find one to swap, since no one orders them) the midlevel SE with the AWD and the third row, which is what us moms want. Instead, they stock the Limited, with expensive bells and whistles, and middle class Janes like me? Priced out. Kinda funny -- first car my family ever owned brand new about 30 years ago was a Hyundai Pony with a manual choke! Cheap! Anyway, the Pilot seats 8 not 7, so that's a bonus. Safe driving.
