Hello all, I'm a 29 y/o woman (budget-minded), I live in Piscataway, NJ and i'm trying to find a good Hyundai Dealer in my area. I don't want to have to travel too far to buy but will if the price is right! I've contacted Brad Benson for a quote & i was told that they don't email quotes...whatever! I'm trying to do thorough research but it's so overwhelming! At this point I think i've narrowed down my search to the following a 2008 Santa Fe (whatever the mid level one is). I'm 5'9 & I need something that will fit me, I hate little cars ( I used to have a 93 duster in College & grad school). I don't have kids to load into whatever I choose but I want to have space in the car for me. I don't drive to work, so that's not a concern at the moment Here are the things i'd like your advice on: -Should I go with a New or Used Hyundai? What's the better deal in your opinion? -Is certified used a good option? -I'd like to know if you think that it'd be worth it to get a V6? -Is AWD necessary for NJ weather? -How much did you pay for your Santa Fe (including taxes & fees)? -What dealership did you buy from, where should I avoid at all costs? -If I buy out of state, do I pay for the state of purchase taxes & NJ taxes on it? Do you recommend buying out of state? I'm open to all your suggestions! Thank you for reading! |

You want new as you get the rebates which make a new car cheaper than a used one. Plus you get the 10yr/100K warranty on the powertrain. -Is certified used a good option? Any dealer that won't give you an quote over the phone or email should be avoided. -If I buy out of state, do I pay for the state of purchase taxes & NJ taxes on it? Replying to: natalicious (Mar 04, 2009 8:16 pm) If you have not already did the Edmund's TMV pricing report, by all means do it now. It will give you the mental starting point of how much you will be paying for your Santa Fe. Rick 2456 is right on. I concur that you should stay with a brand new Santa Fe, for the amount of incentives you can get on it right now. At minimum, you should assume getting $3500 off MSRP. The 10/100,000 warranty is also unbeatable (just think, you won't have to worry about the engine or transmission failing on you until 2019! assuming you've kept the vehicle in shape). Santa Fe's all come with V6s. The entry level SF, offers a smaller V6 than the mid and upper level ones. If this winter is anything to go by, AWD is a worthwhile option for NJ. Even without snow, AWD gives you added confidence when driving. There's no need to go out of state. You'll get great deals in NJ. Note, most AWD Sante Fe's end up in the Northeast, so there is more inventory here than in the South. Regardless of where your vehicle is purchased, you'll pay the prevailing Sales tax of where you live (NJ). Natalie, when shopping or calling around, make sure to ask for the "out the door" price so there is no confusion with added fees. Be firm. Pit one dealership against another. Negotiate hard. Dealerships want to clear out their 2008 model line to make way for their 2009s. Drumroll...for a 2008 Santa Fe Limited AWD (the top-of-the-line, excluding 3rd row and Navigation sytem), look to pay around $23000, out the door. This is a true, realistic number, I received when I purchased mine in October 2008. I don't know your sales tax %. DMV fees are less than $200. Towne Hyundai, Wayne Automall, Hudson Hyundai should all be able to get you into this price range. Don't hesistate to ask, if you have any more questions. Good luck!

Is $21, 658 OTD a good price on a 2008 Santa Fe Se, V6, FWD? I didn't know that you get taxed on rebates?
