You may stay with in the speed limits, but how quickly do you accelerate to cruising speed? i.e. how often to you tack the tach to 2500 RPM or more when only accelerating to 30 or 40 MPH?

Ethanol or real gas is a government mandate in most parts of the country. Here in the north east we have had it for years. E-10 does reduce mpg by about 10%. Colder temps, usually around 50* also decrease mpg.

Window etching is hogwash, whether done by the dealer at a fantastic mark-up or with a do it yourself kit.

Most cars, stolen by the pro's, are stolen to be chopped and parted out. The etching can be wiped out. Remember there is the VIN on the dashboard visible from the outside on the driver side. The most etching can do is prevent a piece of glass from being removed in a chop job and being sold as new glass.

Whatever discount some insurance companies might offer for window etching, remember it is limited to the "theft portion" of the premium (called "comprehensive" or "damage other than collision").

Whether this discount is touted by a dealer or an insurance company, it doesn't mean squat unless someone lives in a very high crime area or has a super expensive car. (I am an insurance agent representing more than one company.)

Are there any dealers you can recommend for the central Texas area? I am trying to get an '08 Santa Fe at a price others are paying but the dealers in my area just laugh it off saying they aren't legit.

So ive been emailing some dealers around my area, telling them that i am looking at a Limited AWD with Touring/NAV Pkg. MSRP is $34,245 inclu dest. Invoice is $32,151 inclu dest. i told them that I am willing to only pay under invoice, and then add the $3,500 Hyundai Rebate.

One dealer told me that he could deal with me at invoice, is this good? Or could i actually go under invoice, i mean at Fitzmall is going for close to $6,000 under invoice which is awesome.

What deals have you guys gotten if you dont mind sharing, on a SF like this one ir similar. Or how much have you gone under invoice?

Thanks

Any dealers you would recommend in the Twin Cities, MN area that are willing to negotiate?

Thoughts on what we should be paying for the vehicle?

I think you answered your own question! If Fitzmall can beat the price of any dealer by $6000 in your area what are you waiting for?

When I bought my '07 I told dealers outright what Fitzmall would sell for and asked them to meet the price. The dealer I bought from was actually slightly lower than Fitz including what my costs would be to travel to Maryland and back.

I don't know where you live, but for $6000 you can do a lot of flying and take time off work without pay and still be way ahead of the local dealer's price by dealing with Fitzmall. And no, I'm not associated with them in any way.

Sounds good, looks like i just have to say "hey Fitz is giving me $6k under invoice, beat that" we'll see how it goes.
Its good to know that dealers are actually willing to negotiate and not be jerks about pricing.

Thanks for your response

I am also looking at Toyota Venza, invoice for one that i like is $33.5K would be aweesome if they went under invoice, but i might have to wait for that to happen since they are just now coming out.

Here's something to use for negotiating ammunition at the dealers. November sales figures for SUVs: Honda CR-V was number one. For the rest, Ford Escape 10,019, RAV4 9260, Highlander 7887, Jeep Wrangler 6140, Lexus RX 5850, Pilot 5601, Rogue 5501, Grand Cherokee 5203 (must be a 2-for-1 sale on that turkey), Ford Edge 5080, Forester 4996, Ford Explorer 4763, Expedition 4371, Santa Fe 4282, with Jeep Liberty and Chevy Tahoe at the bottom of the heap. What does that tell you? The gas guzzling road monster Expedition (or, as one of my friends calls it, the Excessive) is selling better than our beloved SF. Guess the world at large doesn't know how good a vehicle this is....which is to your advantage when buying one!

Your welcome and good luck with whatever you decide to buy. Denvertrakker is right, those considering an suv should consider Hyundai quality. I've been completely happy with their quality and my dealer service.
