Hi Dan,

Thanks for taking the time to reply my post. I can understand that some people do come here to brag and the actual amount of discount will vary. The car has been great so far, only 3 days and 260 miles so I guess the jury is still out on how it will hold up in the long run.

This is a total impulse buy. We were lured in by the 0% financing and I had to replace my rapidly deteriorating '98 Honda CR-V with another AWD vehicle. The test drive went great. The ride was nice, acceleration decent and fit and finish wasn't bad either. Not top tier Japanese car great but very impressive nonetheless. Because we were at the dealership late, the salesman really came after us and wanted to make a deal. So base on the sticker and what I remember of the invoice prices (which check out with what the dealer showed me), I thought I was getting a pretty decent price since it was about $500 less then invoice including 7% tax and all the other fees OTD.

However, the doubt and the panic about our decision started to creep in as soon as we drove the car off the lot. The turn signal did not work the whole way home! And this was right off the lot. The turn signal would not return to the off position even if I turn the wheel 1 to 1-1/2 revolution. Bought the car back to the dealership next day and the problem seems to go away when the service person drove it. But since then the problem comes and goes like a ghost. Very frustrating.

Then I found this site last night. Saw the thread on pricing and transmission issues posted here and just about had a panic attack! Also, when we brought the car back to the dealer to look at the turn signal issue we had experienced the same unfriendly service described by some other posters. Which seems to suggest Hyundai has a culture of stonewalling the customers and that's not good to hear.

I just hope that my first Hyundai experience won't also be my last either. Thanks all for listing to my ranting.

I am buying a Limited AWD w/o Nav in NJ by the end of this month, so I will post exactly what I paid and I will break it down. I got the discounts I posted earlier in an email from the internet department and that was for September. I think I can shave another $500 off this month. Your deal is done, so enjoy your vehicle. At least you aren't paying interest on it.

Which dealer did you use?

Hope you control your car buying panic better than I'm controlling my stock market panic! Our Santa Fe is 4 weeks old and only issue is the gas cap release switch stays stuck out if pulled a little more than barely. Of course I had to install the roof antenna, drop 15lbs. of excess pressure from each tire, have the salesman wipe off some agressive glue on the headlight, spend 2hrs. installing the license plate because the #$$%%^ plastic nuts were spinning in the tailgate slot. But those things are probably normal (unfortunately). Thanks for listening to my rant.

Dealer service (oxymoron) usually must be managed by the customer for most manufacturers. These tips work for me (usually). Always try to speak to the service manager, not the service desk jockey. Write everything down in long winded prose before you get to the dealer. Insist the write-up you did is attached to the work order. Try to demonstrate the issue. If you can't demonstrate the problem in front of them, they probably won't fix it.

Good luck with your turn signal issue but don't let it drive you crazy. It you feel like it is, write to this forum and we'll make you feel better buy letting you know you're not alone. Dan

papa,

enjoy the car... everyone gets buyers remorse, especially after an impulse purchase!!!

we looked at the SF AWD with nav and 3rd seat as well. we were offered a price of about $25800 +TTL... that was 2months ago.

you got at the very lease 0% interest so that should at least sooth some of the ouch in your price.

what was the full sticker price?? what was invoice?? did that $31500 include TTL??!

Ouch... $25,800+TTL? That would be at least $3,000 cheaper then what I paid. My $31,500 was out the door price. Everything included and with the 0% it was just sign and drive. If I had to put up some cash I might have walked that night.

Now I just hope the car doesn't give me any problems so I can stop kicking myself.

I have an '07 Santa Fe Limited - when I was in the dealership 2-3 weeks ago, my salesguy offered me an '08 with a list of $29,100 + T/L for $23,900+ T/L. When I bought my '07, I got $4200 off. So, it depends on how strongly you bargain, how large the rebates are, and how hungry your particular dealer is.
My car was made in Feb 07, and I purchased it in Oct 07. It appears that Hyundai, who makes these babies in Alabama, keeps them around until a dealer orders the particular color and option combination you want.
My wife ordered an '09 Camry Hybrid (which we love, by the way) on June 9th, the car was built in Kentucky, and ready for pick up at the dealer on July 3 !! I doubt it was a dealer swap, because we ordered a couple of unique accessories that I don't think most people would have asked for. My build date was 6/09 on the door plate.
** IMPORTANT ** Here in SW Florida, our dealer is down to about 10 - '08 Sante Fes. He is not as aggressive now as he was a couple of weeks ago. The '09s are right around the corner, and there won't be any big rebates - at least, not in the beginning.

I think the cars sit on dealer lots for long periods of time. I always check the build date on a car before I buy it. I have asked the dealers and they say that the car was on their lot that long. I have gotten further discounts because of this.

You can't compare the low apr deal you got with someone who took the cash rebate. Hyundai currently offers $3500 rebate or 0% apr plus $1000. Of course someone who took the $3500 rebate would have a lower out-the-door price versus your deal. But unless they had the cash in their checking account, they had to get an auto loan from someone who would have charged them more than the 0% you got.

It's still a better deal to take the $3500 rebate than 0% apr. you get your savings up front. And I got 5.5% financing, and the 3500 rebate, not bad at all. If you do the math, the rebate is better.

i got a postcard yesterday from my local dealer saying all rebates were doubled and the the santa fe this week is $7000 - not bad if you can get the car for invoice as well.
