Bought 2008 Santa Fe today in north west Chicago by shmshen

Just bought the 2008 Santa Fe GLS AWD today and here is the price I paid.
Edmunds.com price
2008 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4dr SUV AWD (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
                                                                                  MSRP Invoice
Base Price ------------ $24,150 $23,193
02 Option Group 02 Popular Equipment Package -------- $600 $546
CF Carpeted Floor Mats (5-Passenger) -------------------- $120 $96
CT Cargo Tray --------------------------------------------------------- $110 $88
MG Front and Rear Mudguards ---------------------------------- $95 $76
Destination Charge ----------------------------------- $695 $695
Total with Options -------------------------------------$25,770 $24,694

The Invoice price shows in Edmunds is less than the price this dealer shown me, it includes another $150 advertising fees. So the dealer given invoice is $24844.

I paid $23,142 + County tax $15 + Sales Tax County $175 + Sales Tax State $1982 + Document Fee $150 + Optional ERT Fee $15 + License and Title $143. Total $25,632 - $2500 rebate = $23,132.

I think it is fair although this dealer charge the document fee and ERT fee (they said it is for electrical filing for the title). But I do not get any free service like oil change or car washing.

The car has 8 miles on it and it was not stored in door when the dealer has it. In the document it says that it has full tank of gas, but actually it only has 2/3. I forgot to check it when I test drove it.

What should I pay to lease... by mjlatl

I'm looking at a Santa Fe Limited (don't care about FWD or AWD - either is fine)
The MSRP on the FWD comes to $31,125
Invoice is $29,206
Edmunds TMV is $29717
there is a $2000 rebate.
I'm looking for a sign and drive (maybe 1st months payment) for 36k/12year

Does anyone know what I should pay or what the money factor and residual values are?

Thanks in advance

The ERT fee is actully $25. Is it normal? Also, it it normal to receive 2/3 tank of gas?

Thanks.

I just purchased my 08 Santa Fe from Todd Archer Hyundai in Bellevue, NE. I got a pretty good deal.

08 Santa Fe SE FWD - Bright Silver
Premium Package
Floor Mats
Cargo Tray
Cross Roof Rails

Edmunds invoice - $25691
Negotiated Price - $24549
Difference from Invoice - $1142
Less rebate (2500) and trade (2000) - $20049.00 Out the door.

If you are in the Omaha area and are looking at Hyundai's, go to Todd Archer and ask for Bart Templeton. He was great to work with.

Should I do VIN etching? by pinnumberr

Thanks for the advice about not doing the etching? Do you recommend that I consider not doing the etching at all? I won't pay the car dealer to do it (since they're too expensive) but I noticed there are some do-it-yourself etching kits you can buy online for a few bucks. Does etching serve any purpose? Some say it deters car thieves and could reduce your insurance but I'm not sure. Thanks again!

I'm not sure if this is something that happens very often, but I have heard you should actually cover up your VIN with tape so that thieves cannot get a key copied from an unscrupulous employee at a dealership. Just something to think about.....I have never actually covered mine.

The rebate on '08 MY is only $2000. $2500 is for remaining '07s.

"Some say it deters car thieves and could reduce your insurance but I'm not sure."

A simple call to your insurance company will answer the question.

I'm not being a smart*ss, just logical.
