Replying to: jbd3 (Mar 31, 2008 7:37 pm) I contacted 9 dealers, (southwestern Wi dealers); 6 responded. I got the email addresses from the Hyundai website, and was able to go direct to the Sales Managers that way. Invoice prices are AWD Limited $27,964 MSRP $29,800 DVD (or nav) 1628........... 1750 floor mats 96........... 120 mudguards 76........... 95 dest chg 695........... 695 Zimbrick had good inventory and he has more coming in April. Gentile in Racine as well as Arrow in West Allis appeared to have a good selection too (they just didn't have the deepwater blue/beige interior I wanted). give 'em a call!

Replying to: nbr1 (Apr 01, 2008 6:00 pm) What a great idea! Please: 1) How did you find the Hyundai website; 2) how can I find Honda dealers' email addresses; 3) what did your email say that resulted in such success? Thanks to you and the others who may read this and reply.

Replying to: buco (Apr 02, 2008 7:02 am) here is the website for them....www.hyundaiusa.com I went to shopping tools and then dealer locator, where you enter in your zip code. Then,go to the dealer's websites, you should be able to find a drop down, usually titled 'sales department' with all their names. (I found that info on all but two of the sites I reviewed). Honda is simply www.honda.com...same thing..it says 'find a dealer', and you put in your zip code. If you want to expand your horizons you may also need to put in another zip for the area you want to research. I used 'Fighting Chance" (www.fightingchance.com) which was well worth the $40 to get all the information...he gives you current information on the car market and the industry; the current status of the company you are interested in; current rebates in effect; what other people have been paying for your particular vehicle, invoice prices and options, and most importantly, information to help you contact the dealers and HOW to approach it. The information truly helped me negotiate and put me in the proverbial 'driver's seat'! Basically, the letter explains what you want to buy, when, and that you want only their best price. You turn the negotiation from you, to competition between dealer to dealer. Word of caution though...all dealers can 'locate' a vehicle, so if you truly want one NOW, make sure they have it on their lot when you talk with them. And second, talking with the sales manager before you send the letters is key, because you can a) make sure they will quote you; b) make sure they have the vehicle configuration you want, and c) make sure you get a good feeling from them and if they are a business you want to work with. I hope this post helps someone! |

Replying to: buco (Apr 02, 2008 7:02 am) "My name is ****. I am interested in an '08 Santa Fe. I would like to receive a quote from you based on the following: '08 Santa Fe SE AWD, with Premium Package, and as few other options as possible. Color selection is still to be decided. I have test-driven the Santa Fe, and have eliminated most everything else we were considering. Our plans call for buying a car before the end of this month. I look forward to hearing what your dealership has to offer." Two dealers responded with offers to sell the car at "invoice" - but the third came back with a dynamite offer, several colors to choose from, and that's who we ended up buying the car from. What a pleasure to walk into a dealership with the price already negotiated and set! |

#1755 of 1755 Lower control arm by 69dartgts Apr 01, 2008 (6:53 pm) Save | Reply Warning to owners of 01 Santa Fe's , next service stop , have your dealer check your lower control arms on rear suspension for rust thru . i own an 01 model GLS 4wd 2.7v6 130+ miles all trouble free . Major maintance was done by dealer till warr ran out. been doing own maintance after that . But never past a thought about this issue. driver side control arm gave out while driving. Had just left work, still in parking garage when happened, luckly not out on major road or highway. That could have been really bad ! The presure from the spring caused control arm to snap in half. There must be a design flaw , there are no drain holes for water to escape from control arm. Looks like a bathtub where the spring seats to control arm. This is a major repair and can be quiet dangerous if it happens while driving ! Has anyone had this happen to them or do you have any idea of what i should do ? |
