hi Mike:

Thank you...again!
I am going to do a bit of research. )(SOUNDS LIKE WE BOTH ARE AFTER PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING, especially the keeping the stock look!)....USED TO ENJOY THE BRIGHTER SOUND OF POLK IN MY..... ERRR..... YOUNGER DAYS!

Our CC is a bit of a butcher, AND SPECIALIZES IN INSTALLING "PAVEMENT CRACKERS" Ya know...a $400 car with a $3000 STEREO.....and $12,000 loan on it!

but if you think it is worthwhile and effective...will definitely check it out. I do not think the "normal HMC STEREO" IS SO BAD, BUT A LITTLE KICKER WOULDN'T HURT....especially keeping $$ vs value in perspective! The newer systems oems are supplying stock are not bad at all, AND THE AFTER MARKET STUFF LOOKS LIKE &*%$# TO ME.

I am not willing to give up the look but like you want just a tad more umph! SINCE I USUALLY GET BORED AND BUY SOMETHING NEW EVERY FEW YEARS, I AM NOT GOING TO DESTROY THE LOOKS OF MY SF, (or spend an absurd amt of $$ on the Upgrade).

THIS May mark a turning point for me though...I really LIKE THIS VEHICLE SO FAR, ASSUMING NOTHING STRANGE HAPPENS....So far, It is looking good! My Ex- Supercharged MINI(REALLY LOADED TOO..too much fun for a car and really BADLY engineered just lile BMW IMHO ) started that way then it began to hit the fan.(under WARRANTY tg!)..so I was lucky to get out when I did, in one piece (it was actually more fun than my old trusty 1981 Porsche Targa!...Quality no, fun yes!). I traded a 2005 Honda Element w/ under 7000 mi for it...Figured WTF it was goofy but worked when I needed it to! I traded a 2004 Audi A4 for that (sludge bucket turbo,, but fun driver...I also like my cars!

Thanks again. Will have to see what the total will be vs the net gain in pleasure...STILL WOULD TRADE IT ALL FOR A GOOD INPUT FOR THE iPOD/gps SETUP BUT WITH THE sf. nOT COMPLAINING! Honestly for under 25K, the Santa Fe has my attention....

Just to clarify, Jeff, the stuff I had put in (speakers and amp) are completely invisible. The speakers are packaged with grills but I didn't use them; instead I just had them installed behind the factory grills in the doors. Due to the amp's size and shape it fits completely under the seat, regardless of the seat's position. It's a great set-up.

FWIW, Crutchfield carries the speakers and the amp.

Crutchfield will be my 1st stop after checking another local shop 1st (the front amp 's fit will make the deal as long as it is out of the way....I want neat and decent sound...No huge subs or huge power needs either, just a little boost....Like it sounds like you went after...$about $600-$700 installed maybe PULSING LIGHTS ALSO NOT NEED APPLY!!

You are doing a lot better than I am. I have nothing to trade, and I am asking for quotes on

Santa Fe Limited Ebony Black
Premium Package (will also listen to quotes on Ultimate)
Beige Interior
Floor Mats

The best quote I have on the Premium is $25,000 before taxes.

The best quote I have on the Ultimate is $27,000.

These are dealers in Atlanta and throughout Alabama.

Working off 85% of MSRP on these cars is hard. MSRP on the Premium is about $27,800 which gives a target of $23,700. On the ultimate MSRP is $30,400, target of $25,900.

Adding the $1500 rebate back in to the target takes you to an offer of $25,500 on the Premium and $27,400 on the Ultimate, but no one seems to be interested in selling at this price.

I don't have the luxury of being able to wait, as my wife's 06 Limited was totaled in a wreck and we have to replace it by the weekend.

enygma,
The Santa Fe with the options you want has an MSRP of $28,250(based on the destination charge of $695 in my area). The dealer invoice is $26,520. If you can get it for $23,500, I'd say that is great. Minus the $2,000 rebate, that is $1,020 under invoice.

I did it! by zeb

Hi there,

Just wanted to let you guys know I did it - I actually bought my new car!! I went with the Silver Santa Fe SE FWD, and it's fun! I already can tell I'll be addicted to the XM. When I got to the dealership, I saw the plantinum sage one (but not up close) and me being me, I started to think 'should I have gone with that one?' - but then I saw my car sitting all shiny waiting for me, and I was fine!

The car feels huge to me compared to the Sentra I was driving; hopefully the gas won't be a killer!

Also, in a turn of good fortune, I was able to sell the Sentra privately just before I went to the dealership, for 3 times what the dealer was going to offer (not that it was much!).

So it all worked out really well - thank you to everyone for your help in getting me to this point; I really appreciated all the feedback! I've never had a new car before, so this is very exciting.

You mind posting what you paid? I've been looking at Edmond Hyundai.

What price should I shoot for on a Santa Fe GLS auto, with touring package? I'd like arctic white, but I'm not sold on any color. The quotes I've gotten so far are near 24k, but that's nowhere near the 85% of MSRP others are suggesting. Can anyone give me some idea of prices around Oklahoma?

Glad you finally pulled the trigger! Hope you enjoy it but I would set aside some $$$ for the extra gas bill. You will notice a significant difference.....that's the 1 area CR "dinged" them on.
