to answer your questions:
IS $24,900 before or after tax? WE DON"T HAVE A SALES TAX HERE.
How did you move cash from credit card to checking account?. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERA; CREDIT CARD COMPANIES AND THEY WILL TRANSFER FUNDS INTO YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT AND CALL THAT A "BALANCE TRANSFER". THIS IS NOT CALLED A CASH ADVANCE BECAUSE IT IS NOT IMMEDIATE, AS IT TAKES SEVERAL DAYS. BE CAREFUL AND READ SMALL PRINT, AS SOME BANKS CHARGE YOU A PERCENT OF THE BALANCE AS A FEE, SO IT COULD BE $700. THE OFFER I GOT IN THE MAIL FROM WELLS FARGO WAS ZER FEE FOR TRANSFER AND PURCHASES IN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS. AND PAYMENTS ARE ONLY 1% OF BALANCE--SWEET! I CALLED MANY COMPANIES AND COULD NOT GET THIS DEAL AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT SHOWED UP IN MY MAIL BOX. LUCKY! I HAVE TAKEN THE $35,000 (ALL THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME) AND PLACED IT IN A CAPITOL ONE COSTCO MONEY MARKET EARNING 5.22 APY. YES, THERE ARE SOME CDS NOW THAT ARE 5.46, BUT I LIKE THE LIQUIDITY OF THE CD.

Oregonmastiff,

That's a great deal! Congratulations. May I ask where you bought the SF? I'm looking to buy one soon and am also in Oregon

madonkey,
I am also in the market for a 2007 Santa Fe and have been reading this forum daily. From what I can see, $25,653 +TTL is pretty good. That is 85% of MSRP. Most of the posted prices at Fitmall.com are about 84% of MSRP. I am hoping to shoot for that here in Texas. I would love to know if anyone has gotten a better deal than that.

Just curious,oregonmastiff, what was the MSRP on your Santa Fe? Divide your final price (before TTL) by MSRP for percentage.

MSRP was$30,230, which inlcudes the 670 inland freight = 82% of MSRP, plus free all weather floor mats and cargo tray.

A great deal indeed! I've been thinking about this alot....if someone advises you that a certain amount, dollar-wise, under dealer invoice is a great deal, you are cutting yourself short if it is a vehicle loaded with options. Your percentage of savings decreases as you load on the options. That is why I was asking in an earlier post what percentage folks were getting off MSRP. I know MSRP is a sort of made up price, BUT at least it is a consistent price to begin bargaining with. Final dealer invoice is too abstract for me, as we never truly know what that is!

FYI, this is all new to me and I am truly in the learning process. My husband and I are buying a new Santa Fe for me, and I am the one doing all the homework to make sure we get the best deal. I just may be the one doing the talking at the bargaining table (for a change). Seeing that oregonmastiff got 82% off MSRP, I see I need to set my sights higher!

Well I finally did it! I purchased the 2007 Limited FWD without any of the extra options in the Powder White Pearl with the Black Leather and got it for $25,500 after the $1500 rebate (total also includes a lofty Texas sales tax of $1485). I was going to try to push for more off, but I found out from several dealers there was only about 3 left in Texas in the colors I wanted, so I went ahead and took the dive. All in all it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought my first car buying experience would be and hopefully I didn't let them sucker me

Congrats, missmarie1! You got a good deal and you're going to love your new Santa Fe. It's a great SUV. Have fun with it!

Should I bite the bullet or push for more?

New 2007 Santa Fe Limited FWD (no packages, just floor carpets) ebony black outside, beige inside

Price: $22,948 + tax/title/registration (includes rebates) => comes out to about $24,750 out-the-door

I could push for more but there is no other 07 santa fe left in my area that is FWD, Ltd, and black/beige combo without any optional pacakages. I could switch to a different color combo but black/beige is my preference, unless this deal is a huge rip off
