About to buy Hyundai Santa Fe Limited w/ Touring by ssykes

Hi all -

I think we are getting a great deal, but wanted to run this by the rest of you to get your input. I want to make sure we aren't missing anything.

What we are buying in Dallas area:
Santa Fe - Limited 2WD with Touring Package (does not include Premium Package)

The current price we have is $23,750. That includes the rebate and the $500 financing incentive. This price seems amazing to me.

To find a limited with touring without the premium package seems hard to do. The dealer we are dealing with didn't have any on the lot and is getting it from another dealer. I am also a bit worried b/c we really want the 3rd row of seating and I read in the other forum that the 2008 will not have that option.

Can anyone back that up? We are in no rush to buy, but if the 2008 model will not have the option of 3rd row seating then we are in more of a rush.

Thanks!
Sharon

To everyone wanting to know whether or not you got a good deal... by mpuzach

There are many here who are asking whether or not the deal they're getting on a new Santa Fe is a good one, often without posting enough information. In other cases, they're asking after they've bought the car. (What's the point of checking after the fact?) In still other cases, folks are saying things like, "I can buy a SF with Package X for $XX,XXX. Is this a good deal?" In these cases, neither the M.S.R.P. nor the invoice price is provided so anyone wanting to respond needs to do research that the would-be buyer should have already done.

IMO the best way to determine whether or not your purchase price is reasonable is to compare it to the dealer invoice price (not to sticker). This very web site (Edmunds.com) provides this info and it's very accurate. One need only go to "New Cars" and configure a Santa Fe exactly like the one they're dealing on, including all options. In evaluating a deal, the only comparison that matters is purchase price (including "dealer fees", if any, but not including rebates, taxes, or registration). In today's market, it's easy to buy at $500 - $1000 under the invoice price. If invoice is $25,000, a good deal is $24,500 or less. Any rebates should be subtracted from that amount; taxes and license should be added. It's that simple.

Did your purchase price of $26,495 already reflect rebates? If so, what was the total rebate amount? On an invoice amount of $28,116, I would have offered $27,000 less any applicable rebates and would have been happy with a deal that didn't exceed $27,500 less any applicable rebates. IMO any deal that's at least $500 under invoice before factoring the rebate(s) is a decent one.

Thanks, After my calculation: I got 1620 under invoice plus 0% for 36 month. But the thing that seal the deal is the trade-in. They offered 2K more than other dealer I went to.

I agree that finding an SF with Touring and without Premium (sunroof) is difficult. They're out there, though! I know because I took delivery at the end of May on a 2007 Sante Fe Limited AWD with Touring and without Premium. My dealer had to search for it, and finally located one still at the factory in Alabama.

The rumour about the '08 models not having 3rd row seats has been debunked. Official sources say that the 3rd row seating option will continue, so don't panic.

Anyone know if the rebates will continue or if Hyundai will 'spice' them up a bit? Or should I say 'Duh' it up?

You can drive yourself crazy waiting around for a better deal that may or may not come. The deals that are available right now are very good. I suggest finding a Santa Fe that's equipped to your liking, striking the best deal you can, and driving it home. That way you can start enjoying it rather than waiting and seeing.

I have reviewed these posts over the past few days and learned a lot but had a few last sec questions - we are about to purch a sante fe gls auto...saw numerous posts re towne hyundai:

is towne reliable?
any hidden fees?
my local dealer, a HUGE hyundai vol dealer says there must be a gimmick such as must be in military, or college grad or past customer to get such discts from towne - curious if they are as good as it seems? i would be travelling 2.5 hrs to buy from them...offer was 19674 (this incl 1000 rebate, so 1560 under invoice even tho site said they do 1700 under) off invoice of 22234 (looks like hyundai raised base price 200 over what edmunds shows); local dealer offer 20874 (360 under invoice)

went to fitzmall tonite - price 19236 incl delivery per site...

am i missing something - how is experience with fitzmall and what can i expect - any advice appreciated - we need to purch car in next few days. thanks.
