Your very naive to assume Fitz or any other out of state dealer is going to foot the freight bill to ship the car from Maryland to Atlanta. Also their web site clearly states there is a $99 dealer optional dealer processing fee that is excluded from their prices along with the exclusion of tax, tags and title. Fitz is an upfront dealer, they will even meet you and handle all the details at the airport if you choose to fly there. They did a full disclosure, you just prefered to read what you wanted to read. You owe them an apology

There has to be more than $1600 in "hidden dealer incentives." Towne Hyundai (Denville, NJ) is currently offering Santa Fe at $1600 below invoice before any rebates.

They can't sell cars at their unit cost and stay in business. They are very easy to deal with, nice people & no funny stuff. They have great prices, better than Fitzmall, yet they still have to be making money. Nobody should begrudge them that.

They have sold 4 cars (1 new Sonata, 1 new Azera, 1 new Tucsonand an '03 used Sonata) since February to three of us here in CT, about 100 miles away. The Tuscon guy just picked up his car at the beginning of this week. He paid $3K less than the local dealers within 40 miles wanted plus he got a nice discount on the extended warranty. So for spending about 4 hours total travel time and a few bucks for gas he saved over $3K.

Just wanted to let other internet buyers know about the freight cost that is not mentioned anywhere on the website. I would be interested to see what others interpret the phrase "Delivered Internet Price" to mean. BTW, they tout the $99 dealer charge as an "optional" dealer charge. I am not sure what is "optional about it" if they add it to every car.

I surely don't owe them an apology, but I will say on their behalf, that it only took 1 email to learn of the freight charge. I am just trying to perhaps saving some people from having to send that email.

No interpretation needed. "Delivered Internet Price" is underlined on thei site. Click on that and it tells you what delivered internet price means.

'07 Associate/Team Member Pricing by tpfilm1

Hey. Don't want to make anyone jealous, but I wanted to see how the following deals compared to the latest deals others have gotten.

Stepdad works for HMMA (Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Alabama) and I can get Team Member pricing on any new Hyundai. Using this plan, I can get an '07 GLS, AWD, 5spd no additional options for $19158.75 (TRUE invoice minus 15% + inland shipping - not sure if rebate would apply. Checking w/ admins at HMMA.)

Through Associates/Friends and Family pricing: $20382.10 (TRUE invoice, minus 2% MSRP, minus rebate, minus advertising fee + inland freight.)

Using team member pricing will require me to go to Montgomery (I live in NC) possibly pay AL and NC sales tax plus deal with registering a vehicle bought out of state. Not to mention dealing with trade-in and financing. Using Associate plan I walk into dealership, tell them what I am doing, give them a code generated for me, arrange financing details, trade-in, etc. No haggling, no bargaining, no "let me see what we can do" crap. I can even order a vehicle if it is still being built (since '08's are rolling off the line now...) or have one delivered from the HMMA storage yard.

Now, how do those figures compare to deals ya'll have gotten? Would it be worth it to not have to play the game? Sure, someone could probably get a better price but you have to play the game. I have been dealing with Saturn since '98 for new cars. Bought used elsewhere but that's a different story! I don't like the crap, but can do it...

After delivery, I'll inform on here what you all should know about HOW I did this deal with the dealer. Shooting for 2500-3K under Invoice. have a great Friday.

I would think that most informed buyers know how to purchase a car and understand that the destination charge is the cost the manufacturer adds to the price of the car to transport it to the dealer and that if they wanted it shipped an additional 650 miles to their door step they would expect to pay for it.

Wait 'til August? by chrislegg1

I am looking to buy a Santa Fe Limited AWD - don't really care about the packages, and am somewhat flexible on exterior color (there are three colors that are OK by me), though not flexible on interior color (has to be grey).

It has been a while since I have been able to buy a new car based on price, not absolute need (10+ years - last time I had to buy new car after crash totalled my '94 Honda Accord), so would appreciate insight on whether I should buy now or wait.

Any advice on the benefits and possible trade-offs of waiting until August to purchase? Am I likely to get much better of a deal then vs. now? Any guesses on how much better (e.g., are we talking $500 or $1000+ better)? Would you expect choices to be pretty limited, or still decent enough if I am willing to travel w/in 100 miles?

Thanks!

Chris
